Grant Park Skate Park's skate facilities are now open. Here's a look:

Appears that the rest of the park (the grass area and hundreds of trees) probably are on hold until spring.

Cue the comments about gang banger street hoods in the park.

Cool. I love how they integrated the old stone retaining wall. It looks a little barren right now but it looked like they were planning to put in some trees... hopefully they pay a little extra money for 3" trees so they grow in sooner.

387 parking spots seems excessive, although I'm guessing the residential requirement takes up all but 69 of those spaces. This place is ~1050 feet from the Logan Square Blue Line, so the usual 1:1 parking ratio is annoyingly high. It's too bad the p-street portion of Milwaukee in that area is only north of the square.

But other than that, this seems like a big improvement. It even seems like most of the second and third story street frontage in that rendering is human occupied space rather than garage, so if that's right at least they're handling all of that parking well. I wonder what it looks like from the other side or from above.

Wow, I'm impressed. It looks like we're going to expect even more than 1,500 new units in Logan Square in the coming years. Milwaukee is going to truly be different in 5-10 years.

^^^ Oh yes, there are far more than 1,500 units in the works for the Milwaukee corridor. I know of at least two more TOD proposals that haven't been announced yet including a particularly awesome project (not for it's scale, but for it's quality/importance) that will really rustle everyone's jimmies. Exciting times for the NW side.

There's a pretty good sized hole now at the NE corner of Belmont and Ashland. Remind me, is there a render for that project?

Also, at California and Diversey they're clearing a big lot. What's that?

I live 2 blocks from the Belmont Ashland site and haven't heard anything. Only rumor was a Target Express of sorts and a residential component. Hopefully the developer will push for something big there. I want to see something at least 10 stories. And because it's a big site....hell it's even got its parking deck.....a tower portion could go up against the streets and step back toward the neighborhoods.

Looks nice enough. The massive impact this will have on traffic is a bit concerning though...

This extends all the way from Logan down to Sacramento?

Really not a fan of how much traffic this will create. The city should really consider removing street parking between Logan and Division and expanding it to 4 lanes across. The traffic along Milwaukee is already absurd.

^ I have to say, as someone who lives two blocks from there, the traffic on Milwaukee seems pretty normal.
