Hard to tell-- where is the preserved Shutze Funeral Home? Definitely an improvement from the original renderings-- where did this come from?

I'm pretty sure I saw that rendering two years ago. I think it was conceptual, way before Portman had interest in the site.

Yes, I've seen it as well. Fairly certain it is old/conceptual.

Can't say that's entirely shocking given Simon's existence right now is up in the air until this is over, renters aren't paying rent, so not exactly like shocking they'll pause as they are bleeding money. They're stock price has been cut in half.

I personally think things will be back to normal in a month, barring a major setback, like trying to open sooner than that.

I found it on the AIA Georgia website. It does appear to be an old rendering, though.

A month is VERY wishful thinking--

I think that is the original marketing rendering. (And I think that one showed the funeral home demolished(?) before its landmark designation)

Heard something reaffirming this possible timeline today from an Emory employee, who is hearing at Emory, where they locked down unnecessary medical procedures, patients a month ago, is now tentatively thinking mid-May to take regular patients again (back to work).

Obviously tentative, but that's if things continue on a seemingly the pace they are moving.

Anything resembling "normal" is out the window for May.

May 2021 is up in the air.

2022 we can be quite confident about though, I think. That could very well be a normal year.

I hope you guys like the U/C buildings in ATL right now because for the near future, this is it.

All speculation of course-- this all depends on a vaccine, or some other effective treatment for the virus. I suspect it will be longer than a reopening in May for most. It probably will not effect all businesses the same way either. Most construction sites never closed, for instance-- restaurants and theaters will likely be closed for a while--
Stay Safe--

Do we think the student housing tower at the NS site will be taller than The Mark?

It’s supposed to be 1-story taller, but because of the different elevations of the two sites, I think The Mark will still stand out more, but also because it isn’t surrounded by buildings similar in height.

Agreed. However, the NS student housing building is gonna make a sizeable presence when viewed from the connector (especially between North Ave and 5th street bridges), more so than the Mark from the connector at 10th street.

Anyone know what the NFS student housing tower materials are? I think this could turn out nicely.

It also looks like the main floors have higher ceilings than The Mark's since they've started on the first floor above the podium levels. Maybe that'll make it appear even taller
