If you look at the logistics of the construction site though.....the BD has a major advantage considering there is tons of empty space in and around the site

I didn't think it was funny. Juvenile, yes... funny, no.

Now, if he were to have called it the French Tower... hey, that's red-blooded American comedy.

Will it be built as shown? And who will occupy it? Dubahi is not in need of such tall structures. I cans see it in hong Kong ,tokyo or manhattan but there is so much available land in dubhai what would be the purpose?

Here's the latest rendering of Burj Dubai. Someone at SSC counted the floors in this rendering and came up with 197! (175 residential/office/hotel floors + 7 podium floors + 15 mechanical floors)

It looks like a stretched version of Trump Tower Chicago.

That's because they're both designed by SOM.

Looking at the picture above and looking at the first picture of the concrete slab as the base you realize that the upper floors are going to be tiny if that is in fact the base. compare the top floors to the bottom floors and theyre dramatically smaller. if that is the base in the picture think how small those floors will actually be. I dont know if Im making any sense here but it just makes me wonder

Hey H-man... first of all, welcome to the forum. Secondly though, learn some grammar, man. I had to read that sentence(s) three times to understand what you meant.

When you build that tall it's best to have a much larger base for stability. It also looks great too!

I can see what you mean. If that is the case, then the top floors can only be made into restrooms, and I mean "Tiny restrooms". Not much better than the windmills atop the Freedom Tower.Laughing out Loud.

By the way, you know I am just kidding. I certainly wish Burj Dubai will have a nice observation deck on the top, and I will be one of the first group of people getting up there!!

The concrete foundations look awfully small for a building of this height.
