 Crazy stuff. It looks so odd seeing skyscrapers next to a golf course. Almost looks photoshopped. Cool stuff, though.

Looks photoshopped in real life too! (Couldn't resist.)

here are a few wonderful pictures i found taken while looking through various photo albums on the web. These are taken during the construction of the Stratosphere tower in September 1995 by "StuSeeger" (many thanks for uploading these) Even though these were taken less than 12 years ago the likes of the Sands, landmark, desert Inn, El Rancho and Stardust clearly visible in these photos are long gone; and the likes of the Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, Paris, Monte Carlo, New York, Mandalay Bay, Planet Hollywood, have yet to be built.

Sweet, thanks! It’s hard to believe that was just 12 years ago. The difference is AMAZING!

Pretty.

I have to say though, to me, Las Vegas still looks very sparsely developed from many angles. I guess it still has a lot of room to grow.

Vegas has never been my kind of city, but I have to say that the recent development is finally giving its skyline some character. Too many of the previous hotels seemed to be identical shaped 15-20 story buildings, now they're getting some vertical orientation to the skyline.

It seems so wrong, yet feels so right.

BTW, what's going up next to the Bellagio?

The Cosmopolitan is coming out of that hole next to Bellagio, two towers at about 600 feet. The rest of that construction is City Center, six towers ranging from around 450 to 600 feet, a shopping mall, casino, convention center, theater, power plant, and monorail.

Vegas has always had character, but the skyline is definitely becoming more exciting now that it is getting some height. Our four new tallest are under construction right now. Two are topped out (Palazzo and Trump), Encore is about 2/3 the way up, and Fontainebleau is just getting started.

Fontainebleau will be our tallest scraper at 735 feet.

Awesome pictures! This city will only get better with all the construction going on.

Hopefully we can keep this thread alive as the city changes.
