I just love the way that the substructure looks so intricate and yet so muscular and industrial at the same time. Beautiful in the same way as the Eiffel Tower. Extra points for being old (1874) and so useful in spite of its age.
Great choice, that was the first one that came to mind for me as well.

Also love the Tower Bridge in London.

Photo is mine.

The Ambassador, Mackinac, and West End (Pittsburgh) are also great.

And since I'm a blantant homer, and my new home is Dallas, let me nominate the Houston Street Viaduct -

Can't find a great daytime pic just now.

Ah, excellent. I was wondering when this bridge was going to come up. When people think cantilever bridge, this is what they imagine.

Second shot is amazing, looks alot like Vancouver's Pattullo Bridge

The Mackinac Bridge is also my favorite, and it's pretty much by bias and childhood fascination.

Here's some pics of the bridge from a trip I took last summer.

This side is Lake Huron, but the other side of the bridge is Lake Michigan. The south shore of the Upper Peninsula is on the right.

The walk across is 5 miles, so Labor Day is the only day the span is open to do so.

You can walk on the steel roadway and see the water below.

Approaching the summit.
The Golden Gate is about 700 feet longer between the main spans, which is about 20 % longer, but this bridge is actually longer between shores. I also like the detail and color better.

Of course, I gotta go with a homer pic, too-- I love the bridges of the San Antonio Riverwalk...

(my photo)

But my favorite bridge in Texas, more for its surroundings than its form, is the the Pecos River Gorge bridge on US 90 west of Del Rio. Love it. 273 feet high, and spans 1310 feet.

also mine

http://www.stage6.com/user/sandavusk...en-Gate-Bridge Here is a nice National Geographic Documentary about the Golden Gate Bridge. I can't believe how much abuse it gets! Everything on the GGB has been replaced for safety reasons.

Are you kidding ("No one's heard of it")? I actually remember taking the ferry to Kent Island before they built it. After they built it, I drove across it frequently and trolled for "rockfish" (better known to most as Striped Bass) under it and around its piers in the 1960s. I do think they kind of ruined it by making the new span not a twin of the old, original span though.

Garabit viaduct, near St Flour, Cantal, France.
Built in 1884 by Eiffel & Cie (yes like the tower!) 565 meters long, for railway.
My shots

I've got Millau Viaduct pics and a small video too but maybe you've seen enough photos of it as it's quite famous...

There are some great looking bridges over here as well - Denmark is often called the "land of the bridges", considering it's geography with several islands connected by huge bridges, including the one that connects Denmark to Sweden (and Copenhagen to Malmö).

The Great Belt Bridge is the second largest/longest suspension bridge on the planet, and considered by many to be the most beautiful too;
