"The tower likely to get the most attention is the 512-foot extrovert at the intersection of 30th and JFK Boulevard. Segmented into three hip-swiveling segments, the office building will be accented in bright red terracotta and metal. Perhaps even more improbable than the color is the treatment at sidewalk level. PAU has given both this tower, and its more sedate, 360-foot companion, a delicately arched arcade that recalls the mod architecture of the early ’60s. Think, I.M. Pei, Minoru Yamasaki, Wallace K. Harrison, and Edward Durell Stone."

Aesthetically the design is fine...my concern is that this whole development will feature a lot of "dead" space on the ground brought about by a dearth of commercial, ground-level real estate (eg. places to walk to and get food).

Yeah. There's a bit of a "back to the Sixties" vibe. Drexel Square by itself can't make up for a lack of engagement of buildings at the ground level. Obviously have to reserve judgment.

I just hope the terra-cotta red facade indeed turns out as bright at the renderings. It's a bold, modernist design for sure. After recently spending some time in the TWA Hotel/JFK Airport terminal which is a time capsule to 1962, that's exactly what I am seeing here (both on the ground, and sharp, colorful lines, and curves of the tower). I'm sure many people will hate it, oh well. Standing at 512 feet tall, and completely different than the glass-blue of Cira Centre, and FMC, and Evo ...this thing is gonna pop! Hopefully in a good way.

I'd love to see you guys with such skills to put this into a skyline view shot from different vantage points. The skyline expands westward.

I also like what little we can see of the second tower, which according to the article will be 360’. It looks classy.

I’m moving into UCross soon so I’ll be able to post pretty frequent updates.

Build it...I like the bold design and bold color. SY needs to stand out with all the possible builds. Kind of like how Hudson yards did it in NYC.

Just quesstimating off the top of my head but it seems like between 2.5 to 3 million ft^2 of new construction to U.C. soon . Does that sound right ?

This! So, impressive. BRT should be pitching to tech companies like UBER to come here. I recently read that UBER will open a hub in Dallas Texas with 3000 high paying jobs. Philly needs some tech businesses in the shared economy to be established here.
