The Blairmore (west end) store is newer than the Stonebridge store, but the Stonebridge store did receive an addition to it after the Blairmore store was done. SmartCentres was the developer of both of those retail developments.

edit: Did some checking. Looks like Walmart opening in Preston Crossing in 2005, Stonebridge in 2007 and Blairmore in 2009.

H&M pushes back Saskatoon store opening

by Alessandra Carneiro, Video Journalist, CTV Saskatoon
July 16, 2020

SASKATOON -- H&M says it will delay the opening of its new store in Midtown Plaza.

The company told CTV News on Thursday that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the opening will be pushed back a few months.

The store announced in December that it would be opening the 23,000-square foot store in the old Sears location which would include two levels.

Old Jerry's on 8th

Does anyone know what's going into the old Jerry's Food Emporium location on 8th Street. Seems to be very active in there renovating.

Mano's on 8th

Has anyone heard anything about Mano's on 8th Street? Rumour has it that they are debating packing it in?

Losing restaurants like these will be a crushing loss for the city. At the same time 8th street sure could use some major redevelopments, beginning with the Dodge dealership across from London Drugs. That place screams small town.

- Mano's is staying open.
- Moxie's on 8th is apparently closing. (Relocation??)
- Original Joe's is apparently taking over the Moxie's property.

Anyone know what's happening with Alexander's on Cumberland? The exterior is being re-done and the windows are papered over and promote "a new dining experience - coming soon" or something like that.

Is this a refresh of Alexander's or a new establishment?

The brothers who run Mano's apparently had a bit of a falling out and the one left Mano's and purchased Alexander's. I drove by there yesterday and they seem to be making the parking lot a little bigger to accommodate the anticipated popularity.

There was a sign previously in the window... something about global cuisine and fine wine.

I’ll miss Alexander’s

Agreed--it was tasty food at a decent price in a casual space. Awesome desserts as well.

Not much info to be found yet, but saw an opening soon sign for "Hunger Cure Restobar" at the old 2nd Ave. Grill location.

Midtown has finally found a tenant for the remainder of the old Sears. Winners will be going into the mall next to Shoppers. I haven’t heard if it’s a dual Winners/Homesense like other malls have but I know Homesense backed out of their proposed new second Preston Crossing location.

A restaurant name either inspires confidence and intrigue in its offerings and experience...... or it does not.

On that note!

The restaurant replacing Alexander's will be called Filosophi: https://www.instagram.com/filosophi.restaurant/

Filosophi? Really? Why do so many new eateries, wineries or brew pubs feel the need to get cute with their names, to the point of idiocy.

Sure, the "filo" part could refer to pastry, but even then it's just a dumbed down version of "phyllo", so why not "Phyllosophy"? If you're gong for a phonetic spelling of "philosophy", then why have the "ph" at all, just go with "Filosofi".

While I'm at it - "Get off my lawn!" Rant over.

So it's worse than I thought.

I have a "Chandeliers" level of confidence in them making it.

Hoping Cornwall Centre in Regina can secure Winners as well for its former Sears space.
