Have there been any recent updates on the extension of Southlands Blvd to Galway? This base has been down for...years now it seems.

I recently heard that the cost of this little stretch is estimated at $8 million which includes the roundabout (Great Southern + Cheeseman) and lighting

That was understanding as well. But hopefully we're both wrong here. Remains to be seen, I guess.

Awesome news.

I've having trouble envisioning how this will work with Brookfield road. Will the TGH run parallel with Brookfield road for a small way before crossing over and connecting to the roundabout?

In the last link, the consultant's report shows several schemes for connecting to both Pitts and Howlett. Unfortunately, the news clips thus far are talking about the 2nd option of roundabouts which means a choke point for 4 lane highways.

That report also shows 2 types of flyover schemes for non stop into Pitts and Howlett. Not sure if these are conclusively ruled out.

I would hope options 3 & 5 aren't ruled out, guessing they may be based on this Evaluation Matrix. Given the difficulty that a lot of people here seem to have with roundabouts, I'd vote for a cloverleaf design. That wouldn't appear to be in the cards though with the land acquisition and construction costs.
