FAA permit lists the two heights as 245 feet to the mechanical screen and 232 feet to what I'm guessing is the main roof. The taller height lists it as "screen".

This thing is kind of a monster.

Downtown and Broadway area beyond...

San Antonio as seen from 9,848 feet. You can also see Austin and San Marcos on the horizon. The read marker on the middle right is San Marcos with Austin in the upper middle.

Cool model! That building is also going to extremely visible form a lot of angles as that area sits on a rather large hill.

I'm not crazy about the dual parking garages using up all that otherwise useful property.

Nice models as always, Kevin.

This one got a little height bump according to the FAA permit. The previous height was 227 feet to the mechanical screen and 211 feet to the main roof and the new permits are saying 245 feet to the mechanical screen and 232 feet to the main roof. That makes it the tallest building in the South Texas Medical Center. The next tallest is the Wurzbach Tower at 240 feet.

The Wurzbach Tower is the white one on the right side of this image.

I wonder if our medical center could support a building (on a smaller scale) like the Latitude medical center apartments in Houston's med center?

I would think so. I'd hope it would be designed with more modern amenities than the 1983 Wurzbach Tower in mind: parking levels with residences above, an outdoor pool that you can actually swim in (not just lounge like one of those worthless pools at a boutique hotel), and of course ground level retail including restaurant spaces (plural). Doctors like to eat in restaurants, and exhausted nurses and other hospital workers need someplace to go too. They also like to drink... give them a bar.

I also see a Hilton in that photo. Are there hotels for patients' families around the San Antonio medical center?

Wow, Houston's medical center actually looks walkable, and with amenities. This should be the goal for SA's.

Alright, let's get back on topic and not discuss how other cities do things. San Antonio is one of a kind, we do things our way.

(Choking on my own sarcasm)

I hope they decide to put in more residential or multi-family living over there. Could be a good draw with USAA being quite close as well.

Is there a place that we can post about the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital? Between this and the UHS hospital expansion, there is over $1 Billion dollars in work going on in the medical district.

https://news.uthscsa.edu/ut-system-b...arch-hospital/

I figured that it does not belong in the UTSA thread. They have already dug out the site and are currently working on foundations and undergrounds. The site is really big.

Here is a good link to the project's design.

I couldn't find a thread for the South Texas Medical Center. Unless there's another one someone can find, this thread could become the defacto update thread for it. I like the idea of having a thread for it. I was surprised when I found that info for the new tower since I hadn't heard about it on the forum yet. The only way I came across it was from an FAA permit.

The FAA building permit for this says it'll be 188 feet tall. It also lists the work schedule as 11/01/2021 to 07/31/2024.

FAA permit for the tower crane - 260 feet. Work schedule is listed as 10/24/2021 to 10/31/2022.

Was out in the medical district the other day. Below is a picture of the University Hospital Women and Children's Expansion.

This one is the cranes for the UT Health San Antonio Hospital Construction.

Things are really starting to grow in this area. Just wanted to share.
