To me, if I was an employee of this place, and it was indeed still open -- I might want to check my options and start looking for something else -- he doesn't exactly have the greatest track record to fall back on.
I can't help but think you have it out for this guy. Is there some kind of bad blood between both of you?

I guess the old story is true -- where there's smoke, there's fire !

What a shock to the system for this guy. Loses his Pannizzi locations and now loses The 5th Ticket. Talk about a bad year !
I'm pretty sure they only closed the piano bar and upstairs "hideaway" sections, as has been publicly known for some time.

The restaurant itself is remaining open, to the best of my knowledge.

If the Fifth Ticket is not closed, then the posting stating that it had closed is a pretty substantial piece of inaccurate information. We should be careful with making such claims as it could negatively impact a business. Lets be careful!

For the record, I hope it is still indeed open as I have heard good things.

Actually confirmed. Just saw a post from Saturday saying to come down for some guys last shift at the piano bar. We've known that's been closing for months.

Shit on Panizza all you want, but the Fifth Ticket appears to be doing quite well so unless they're hemorrhaging money elsewhere, they're probably not going anywhere.

I'm just calling +1 on Sox having some sort of personal vendetta against the owner of Fifth Ticket.

Tbh the piano bar and *especially* upstairs was never close to full so I can understand why they are refocusing/designing those areas. The restaurant on the other hand is usually blocked between 530-830 most evenings. I get the feeling they are doing quite well, and hopefully that is the case considering their food/menu choices are very solid.

No Vendetta whatsoever.

Just made a few posts based on personal observations, and conversation with other people.
I was told through third party information, that The fifth ticket was closing. Obviously it was only certain sections that actually shut down.

My bad --- best of luck

Construction wall is up over the former Pannizza location at the Village Mall location. So I guess no one was interested in that franchise. Anyone know what’s going there now?

I also noticed the location next to Montana's on Kenmount is gone (well, least the sign is off the building). Not sure any of these locations are surviving - anyone else know?

You should change or remove your 'closed' post on this. It could be considered libel.

Ron.

I hope this is true!

According to this link there are Five Guys Restaurants going to Halifax, Moncton and St. John (not St. John's).

Hopefully it actually is St. John's and the spelling in the link can be chalked up to peoples confusion with Saint John, NB & St. John's, NL.
Lots of Canadians confuse the two cities so it wouldn't be a surprise for an American based company to do the same.

Sighhh. It may indeed be true.

This post on January 9th from the company that is working with them on the expansion:

Koeppel Companies has also plans to ramp up expansion of Five Guys in the Maritimes in early 2019 and the initial focus there is on Halifax, Moncton and St. John. They seek opportunities of 2,500 to 3,200 sq. ft. in open-air centres (with patio), high streets and super regional malls.
The fact that they use "Maritimes" along with "St. John" means it's probably not St. John's.

If anything it looks like the random FB post was incorrect (surprise).

Well, Saint John and St. John's do get mixed up quite a bit outside of the region. However, so does "Maritimes" and "Atlantic Canada".

Just an FYI too. Plaza.ca which is handling the tenant leasing at the Shoppes At Galway also lists Five Guys as one its large group of typical tenants. So you might eventually see it come to town.

Where did you see that? Because I don't see them on this list:
http://plaza.ca/tenants/

That being said it would be strange for them to start expanding into the Atlantic region and not come to NL at some point as St. John's is the 2nd largest metro area in the region.

Apologies. I made a mistake. It was not Plaza.ca that listed "Five Guys" as a tennant, it was Smartcentres.ca , so you may still see a "Five Guys" some day and there are three Smart Centres in metro.

Here is the Smart Centre's tenant list
