sacsayhuaman, peru, above cuzco. apparently all the blocks were transported 40 miles without the help of animals or vehicles/carts/etc, lock together perfectly, and weigh up to hundreds of tons. it was obviously built by aliens:

Zhangmu Town lies in the southern piedmont of the median Himalayas, about 776 km. (482 mi.) away from the capital of Tibet, Lhasa. It also borders Nepal to the south. Sino-Nepal Friendship Bridge is only 10 more km. (6 miles) away and another 100 km. (62 miles)'s drive will lead you into the capital of Nepal, Katmandu. After the drudgery of the Sino-Nepal Road, Zhangmu Town is a most welcome sight both for tourists and traders alike. Much is supposedly owed to nearby Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world. Travelers come mainly for climbing up the lofty mountain, appreciating the heavenly sights, or pilgrimage at its holiness. However, for the particular location, Zhangmu Town itself can form an interesting array of scenery for the visitors.
At the altitude of about 2300 m. (7,546ft.) and with the subtropical climate, Zhangmu Town is mild and humid, which can be an extravagant hope for the common dry and cold Tibetan area. The natural scenery there is very charming. It is absolutely embraced by wondrous mountains, flexural rivers, lush pines and flourishing flowers almost all the year round. Along the winding road in the middle of peaks and gorges, you will be unconsciously assailed by the fulgurous waterfalls, enjoying another tasty variety from the eternally snow-covered Himalayas.

Wow, wow, some wonderful photo/places on this thread I've just found!
Haven't learnt to navigate or post here yet, but:
Architecturally I think sense of Place far more important than style.
You may wish to find some of mine on flickr:

this has to be seen to be believed:

the worlds most spectacular sited city, Wadi Dwzan, Yemen, a hard to reach oasis on the ancient caravan routes, and its 600 year old 'skyscrapers' (not to be confused with the more famous Shibam):

Even though in the US everything tends to be built only on the flattest, lowest land available at any given location, their immediate surroundings can be breathtaking:

Silverton, Colorado, USA
elevation of town 9300 ft / 2840m

Nearby Telluride, Colorado, USA

Baby Rocks, Arizona, USA
Pretty cool place for a trailer (and an abandoned motel and abandoned gas station, not pictured) This is on the Navajo Indian Reservation, about 5 hours from any sizable city.

Juneau, Alaska: This city has no road connections to any other Alaskan city! It is the only state capital on the mainland U.S. you can only reach by sea or air.

Trajan's Market, Rome: Built into Quirnal Hill.

[source]

Montségur, Southern France: This fortress was built on top of an enormous limestone hill and is nigh-impossible to penetrate. The last stand of the Cathars, in 1214, was here.
