The high tech industry has essentially 0% unemployment in Vancouver area currently... it is a very, very good time to be looking for work if you have a couple of years of experience (or even if you don't, most likely).

Quite correct.
At the place I work at we have 2 job opening and only 5-10 people applied for it. Only 2 were worth interviewing and 1 of them was horrible. So we will probably have to hire someone from outside of Metro Vancouver OR someone who is far from ideal/qualified.

Hey Vancouverites,

I'm coming back for a month this holiday season, and, as always, would like to meet up with the gang. The last meet in summer 2011 was a blast.

I'm in Vancouver from December 5th-12th, and then from Dec. 21st-27th.

Any of you interested in a walkabout, beer and good food? If so, let hash out a date that works for everyone.

Sounds like a great idea. I have yet to get to a meet, so it would be nice to put a face to some of the names here (although I promise that I won't call anybody by their username in person

I might be down as well, especially seeing as I flaked out of the last one...

I can't promise I can make it yet but the earlier dates would work better for me.

I could attend the 8th or 9th.

Is there any interest in checking out Metrotown and Downtown New West as part of the meet?

Perhaps we could introduce Columbia St. to anyone that 'never sets foot east of Boundary'?

I can most likely attend the 8th or 9th as well, so whenever fits best for everyone.

Well this sucks, my leave doesn't start till the weekend after.

Would we be able to organise 2 meets, or just have a second smaller get-together later on in December?

So...is this meet still on for the weekend or did people forget about it?

Please confirm either way so some that need to make plans can do so...

Sorry, I've been crazy busy the last two weeks.

Just got in to Vancouver today. I'm down with Sunday. How does 1pm @ _________ * sound?

Sunday looks good. Depending on work, I may or may not be able to attend. Rounding the end of a project that is taking up most of my waking hours.
