Fingers crossed you’re right and they’re just delayed. I really like that spot.

A tweet from Erin's Pub yesterday shows that Bad Bones is moving into the Tavola space. Not sure what this means for Tavola

Apparently Mary Brown's is moving into the old Second Cup location down on Water Street. Should do good business down there.

No. 4 Restaurant and Bar is now open at 4 Cathedral Street.

And next door, at the corner of Cathedral and Duckworth, The Geek Bar has some temporary signage in the windows. Their FB page said permitting and inspections took longer than expected. Hopefully everything is sorted and their new location will open soon.

Fixed on Duckworth is no more. Just announced they are closing due to rising rent and rising cost of food and supplies. They are looking for a buyer.

I know they're saying those are the reasons they're closing, but I think their run-in with the CRA last year has a lot more to do with this than anything else. Once their accounts were seized I knew this day would be coming sooner rather than later.

They had to compete with Tim Horton's 500 feet down the road. The few times I dropped in for an over-priced coffee most of the seats were being used by the MacBook crowd. One thing they did have going for them was the outside seating area, in the summer it was generally full, often times by tourists. Nice spot to enjoy the War Memorial.
Suggestion to new owner...make an effort to court the workers in the Sir Humphrey Gilbert building next door.

I believe before The Peppermill, it was where Bianca's started. Bianca's moved across the street to the bigger location after a year or two.

Before that I think Wimpy's and before that an A & W

Early 90's. Wimpy's was a large burger chain in Britain although this one wasn't related.

Wimpy was a character from the Popeye cartoons who had a burger addiction (I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today)

Oh yes, I remember this guy from Popeye VHS cassettes... dating myself there! I had no idea that restaurant chain existed though. Thanks!

That closure seems like it was a long time coming.

I just drove along Water Street and noticed there’s a new name on the old Fifth Ticket location. I think it was called The Salt Box? Or The Salt House? Anyone know anything about it? All the lights were on inside and there were people in there.

Came across this on the City website... application for restaurant, gaming room, lounge hear Cineplex. Sounds like the Rec Room but stiles me odd that they would be submitting the application this close to opening.
