each unit will come with its own Chinese lady. It's included in the sales agreement.

Great picture Shawn. It's nice to see a different vantage point for a change. This is one we don't typically see.

Interesting question Denizen,

The forces in that situation are opposite of what you are thinking. The core can easily support itself here. The adjacent building is whats being supported. Someone has considered that with the earth removed on the new construction side, the foundation of the existing structure may not be strong enough to carry the building without the earth there. I assume that, like most buildings downtown, It was constructed very close to the property line. Thus, the earth on that side of the buliding is owned by the waterview developers, who can do with it what they wish.
Of course, no one wants that buliding to collapse. There are many permits and waivers and such involved in this kind of process. But i dont think the owner of that property sees any monetary gain from the developer. At least in this particular situation.

Correct. The only monetary gain the neighbor to the west would have would be if there was damage to their building/foundation. Those outriggers on that side are specifically placed (see the orange painted lines on the wall that coordinate with it's structure). This is a delicate process.

How many floors down do they have to go still? From what these pictures show, they are a little more than 2 floors down from Upper Wacker. Am I remembering correctly when I say that there are 4 floors below Upper Wacker? Or was it 5?

Why not? Is that a rascist comment? Is that a sexist comment? Or is it just mere sarcasm? I'm going with the latter on this, sarcasm never hurt anyone, its funny. Nothing PC is ever funny, this world would be so boring if everyone did that...

SO are Mandarin Oriental and Shangri'la huge rivals. And if so, what are your opinions as to the better brand?

Hello all, I am new to the board! This is by far my favorite project going up in the city. What a beautiful building. Can't wait for this to be completed. Thanks for all the informative insight to all.

END OF FEBRUARY - BEGINNING OF MARCH WATERVIEW TOWER UPDATE!!!

-Construction did slow down a little because of the cold. As we all know, it has to be a certain temperature outside in order to pour concrete. Cold weather also makes it more difficult to excavate because the ground is harder plus there was 7" of snow 2 weeks ago.

-They are still excavating and installing raker beams. It's also taking longer to excavate this site because the small size of the site mkes things more complex.

-When the new planned development was approved, it increased the number of condo units from 233 to 245. About 64% of the condos have been sold.

-The hotel condos are about 36% sold

-Teng has been financing the construction, however you should be hearing
some info on which bank(s) will be writing the loan soon. Remember how we all knew that a hotel was coming for a while but nothing could be said until everything was finalized and the contracts were signed? We're kind of in the same situation now with the financing.

Call me politically incorrect, but I found that hilarious.

I forget, is this building going to be "poured concrete" similar to Trump or "structural steel" like BOFA in NYC? Thanks. By the way, they have reached four levels below grade. Check out progress at the Waterview.com construction status page.
