KVUE is a little late to the party on reporting on the Block 164 tower. But there is a sentence in their article that states Block 164 is one of two projects in the works so far. But they offered up no details. The second one would most likely be Block 167 which is the other block that UT will be developing.

The ePlan expedited review of Block 164 was approved and released. The ePlan reviews appear to be an alternative to the standard site plan filings. At first glance of the elevations, the highest side appears to be 272'.

It's so underwhelming compared to what the first vision looked like. Guess we won't see any tall buildings.

I never really gave it much thought initially, but honestly, the first renderings were really ambitious since there are few places in the United States with medical field related towers of those heights. The three tallest hospitals in the world are in the US. One is in New York, and the other two are in Houston. All three of those are in the 500 foot range. One of those in Houston is in the Texas Medical Center. I would have been surprised to see something so tall at Brackenridge. Of course, those towers I'm talking about in those other places are strictly hospital-related, not office towers.

FAA permit for the building - 255 feet, but this is only to the main roof. The mechanical screen rises to 272 feet.

Is the entire Brackenridge site being demo-ed, or just the Block 164 site?

As Austin1971 pointed out in the Texas Capitol Projects thread, you can see the Demo from the 1601 Congress webcam. The Dorsey cranes will be visible as well when they go up later this month.

Central Health wants the maximum FAR for the site increased to "exceeding 30:1 with density bonus" from the 25:1 maximum that downtown sites have. That obviously means that they want to be able to go taller. This is the back up file for next week's PC meeting:

Here's a close up of the demo from two weeks ago. I'm still waiting for the main hospital building to come tumbling down. But no demo outside of the Block 164 tower site has been approved as far as I can tell.

You get up in the morning, drink coffee, eat breakfast, hop in your car, get on location, jump on your machine of mass destruction, and start tearing shit up. You don't have to be a rocket scientist or a member of the Army Core of Engineering, or be able to perform a heart transplant. No, you only have to figure out what knob and lever does what and then turn a buidling into a bunch of little pieces that can be easily scooped up and hauled away. I'm not knocking that job or the person doing it, I just saying, I want that job!!! It would bring me great joy to say at the end of the day, "I destroyed that".
I'm guessing they won't be able to blow up the main hospital tower because its so close to I35.

We have a close up of Block 164 progress from the KXAN article posted in the rumor thread. The demo plans/permits for the rest of the site still haven't been approved.

FAA permits for the two tower cranes - 380 feet each.

Work schedule is listed as 5/1/20 to 10/1/20, which must be a mistake.
