Vancouver now 8-1-1 in their last 10 games.
Have scored at least 5 goals in 4 straight games. A record held since 1996.
3rd in goals for. 3rd in goals against.

Canucks are #1 in goal differential, which is of course a product of being very good on d and o (so far). I will say with caution the Canucks are for real. Last year they started out pretty good, but there wasn't near the depth that they have this year. Our D is hugely improved with Myers and Benn, and especially Hughes, who is so good at skating the puck out of his own end and gaining the zone. Hughes is now tied for 1st in rookie scoring. Pettersson has 12 points in his last 5 games and is now 6th in league scoring.

The Pacific doesn't look so strong this year, so I definitely think the Canucks have a shot to at least finish 3rd. There's no way the Oilers can sustain winning with Draisaitl and McDavid playing 23 minutes a night. Not that I wish it, but one of them is going to get injured if they keep this up. Calgary I presume will start winning consistently, and Vegas is solid, but that's it for the competition in the Pacific. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Which part do you disagree with? My bold claim that the Canucks have a chance to finish 3rd in the Pacific?

Haha well this year he is looking right so far. I've been to a few Canucks games so far this year and they look for real. They fixed a lot of their problems on the back end and they are getting some stellar goaltending.

Who knows if they can keep it up for the season, but nothing to indicate they can't at this point.

Yes I am! I pegged them to be second worst, just one notch above Ottawa. So their current record is a surprise....their Goaltending has been a surprise to say the least. Think Myers is an overpaid, overrated - glass - jaw bum. Defence still lacks long term.....Your prediction of the Flamers making the playoffs are suspect as well....

The Canucks' farm team is 8-0 as well.
This never happens at the same time.

That'll make plays of the month. Calgary's big guns a little slow out of the gate, but good comeback tonight.

Vancouver surprisingly now only one point from the top of the western conference.

Another big win today over the Pens... Smith with 51 saves, Leon with the OT winner.

Leon has more goals in a month/points in a month since Gretz/Mess days at their PEAK.

Still true after tonight's win against the Sharks.

Winnipeg, again, is the least favourite destination for NHL players:

https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/...gritty-fatigue

7. Which road city do you dread the most?
Winnipeg: 42%
Buffalo: 34%
Edmonton: 10%
Calgary: 4%
Ottawa: 4%
Carolina [Raleigh, N.C.]: 4%
Columbus: 2%

"Winnipeg. It's always cold. Tough rink to play in. It's just dirty -- you walk around the city and feel like you need to wash your face after you go outside. So nothing about it is very exciting."

"Winnipeg is just depressing. You don't even want to leave the hotel to get a cup of coffee."

"I'm sure a lot of people said Winnipeg, but I always like Winnipeg. There's stuff to do there. We're close to the casino, if you want to go for a half hour or whatever. Wherever you go, they always have TSN on. I can't get that here [on my U.S.-based team]."

I think the Canucks are for real, they might even make a playoff spot. The weak Pacific Division is good to compare yourself with, but it may not deliver more than 2 playoff spots.

Flames showing some resiliency again, they need to come out with this kind of jump at the start, once they can do that consistently, they may be able to get back to similar form as last season.

Apparently the dressing room is the best part about playing in Edmonton, and Washington is the Russian Gulag of visitor rooms.

"Washington's showers are so bad. They're like a prison shower. There's a pole in the middle, then just spews that come out of that one pole. Not that I care if someone is showering next to me, but it's just a really weird setup."
