This is the kind of stuff that got me interested in architecture. It seems like such a simple thing - stairs. But when a simple object or part of a building can be made into something so unthinkably artistic, it makes for amazing architecture.

Definitely. Great thread. I guess I'll have to head to the SPL to take shots of all the stairs. I'd love to see all kinds of stairs in this thread.

Kevin, that Texas Capitol one is amazing!

ahhh! thanks kevin! at least someone at least tried to maintain some type of format...

that first capitol one is nice. i love the semi-garish banisters.

the second one isn't exactly stair porn though... it took me a second to even see stairs in the picture.

and i love the banality of the parking lot stair. but i tend to love raw things.

i guess i should've also added at the start of the thread. the idea of stair porn is the detail of the stair or uniqueness of it. it's all about capturing the details and intricacies that we most always over-look, don't see, or whatever else; the stair is essentially just a functional necessity of any building that is never really elevated to the artist heights that it could be, so the idea of the photograph should be to exploit the stair's sensuality, not merely document it. or at least, that's what i intended when i started this thread. but whatever i guess.
