looks like the Victory development furthest east. I swear I just saw a document on another site that mentioned none of the Victory developments starting until 2013. Perhaps they were referring to the other 3 that will be more affected by the parking garage fight.

Apartment community starts north of downtown Dallas

Construction has started on a 5-story apartment project at North Central Expressway and Carroll Avenue in Dallas. A Houston developer has purchased a development site north of downtown Dallas and has started construction on almost 400 apartments.

Hanover Co. has been working for months on plans for the project at North Central Expressway and Carroll Street near Cityplace.

Now the developer — which has done several projects in Dallas’ Uptown district — has broken ground.

“It’s a 396-unit, five-story luxury apartment complex,” said Hanover’s project manager, Taylor Pardue.

The rental community, called the Residences at Cityplace, will open next year.

Hanover purchased the 4.2-acre site from the Texas Department of Transportation. The vacant corner had been used as a staging area during construction on the expressway.

I saw the dirt moving on this. All of the recent activity around cityplace is really transforming this area. Looking forward to the higher density elements being built in the coming years no the west village side.

Blah. We wait 30 years, and all we're going to get (supposedly) is a 16 and 29-story tower. Megayawn.

I think we'll just end up with the 16 story one. The 29 story building is a future possibility for condos, but we know how popular condo highrises are these days. With this developers track record I think we will be lucky to see just the one get built.

That park is going to be really really nice. Congratulations Dallas - Atlanta is jealous! We need a park over our massive 20 lane divisive interstate like a smoker needs a respirator.
