Wow, they are really cruising. I'm guessing the intent is to have it student ready by September?

Actually, from what I hear from one of our maintenance guys at the U, the buildings are almost three weeks behind due to the cold weather. The cranes haven't been going every day because of temp and wind.

I just noticed that this thread is still under "Site Preparation". Not that it really matters, but does anyone know how to get that changed before the towers are completed?

Once the first two towers are completed are they moving right along into the next two?

I guess not. (Maybe 6-8 years from now though.)

6-8 years in university talk means it will never ever happen. The project will be abandoned and something completely unrelated and incompatible with the existing use will be built there.

I am looking into my crystal ball and see an electrical substation.

A total of eight towers are slated for the site as per the drawings ,we must always have faith in these projects

I have still have faith in the Chateau Qu'Appelle on the corner of Albert and College. Just need to tear down that Museum first.

I don't agree with fourthtower but i believe the U of R will stick to there master plan. As for when the next 2 towers get built..hmm perhaps after collage ave. revitalization project, as everything is based off funding. If enrollment keeps up where it is, they will have to build another one on campus, as U of R's goal is to have 35%( don't quote me) of it's students living on campus. I believe its only 10% or under right now with the current situation.

I'm sure someone mentioned it before but I was curious as how the towers will be attached to the luther building, I believe someone said a walkway over top?

Also id rather have that museum there then some stuccoed up...box like hotel...

^It was hardly a stuccoed up box-like hotel.

Chateau Qu'Appelle is one of the more interesting stories in Regina history.

Construction of the residence at the Language Institute started in late 1988; the newer twin residences started during the winter of '02-03; and the latest was this past spring. So ya, more residences in about a decade or so.

College west was completed around 1972.

Hey, Rome wasn't built in a day.

I believe they are now working on the 9th and 10th floors of 13 on the towers, the conjoining 6 floor wing concrete is finished I believe.

The basement parkade concrete is now done as well.

I'm pretty sure he was saying that tongue-in-cheek. Sometimes sarcasm is hard to type.

Interesting! Never knew there was a building like that! Or that the pilings were still there! The more you know. However I feel that it would of really added to the character of the city. If it AND the Sask were both completed.

Small photo update of U of R towers. It appears to me that they are pouring the 13th or final for the north tower and very close on the south tower. Steel work has begun on the outside along with windows.

South Tower

North Tower

In the First image there is a large concrete object to the left, square like sticking out of the ground with 4 small pillars surrounding it on each corner, anyone have a clue what this is?? Also curious as to where a connecting pedway might go?

There is not going to be a connecting pedway.

I suspect that 10 years from now after enough people complain they will build one connecting to Campion, which will be a giant cop out because everybody will want it connected to the LI, but like most construction projects in Saskatchewan no effort was taken to account for the weather or the surrounding buildings. if you look at the floor plan there is not even a door on the west side of the towers. So everybody will exit the buildings on the south side and walk around the outside of the building.

It appears to me that plans have changed. They do not appear to be constructing the twin 5 story annexes on the south side shown below.

Judging by his photos and the location of the buildings on the left in picture two, I believe he is taking a picture of the site from the North side. The 5 store buildings are on the other side.

^^ Yes that is true I was taking the photos from the east side, on the road adjacent to campion. There is the two 5 story sections on the other side. At a similar stage to the middle section between the 2 towers.

But that it is disappointing about that pedway When its -40 out, its no fun walking to campion/luther not to mention the FSIN
