We don't know for sure which renderings are the newest. But I would go with the first set because they were posted on HAIF along with the project info from an apparent project insider. Also, I think Covid would put Block 190 on HOLD since it was all office. The original renderings don't show Block 190 which also makes me think they are the most recent.

Man, that's crazy. I love it. As to the rendering, I think the heights are little off on all of the buildings - probably on purpose. The Fairmount looks too tall there, and there's no way 98 Red River is a supertall as shown here when 99 Red River is supposed to be around 600 feet or so, along with Tower 1 of The Travis, which is around 600 feet.

Yeah, trying to estimate heights based solely on the heights in renderings is a waste of time. Floor counts and the uses (if known) are better for estimating.

Either way, I'm excited. I think this one has the potential to catalyze some pretty cool designs moving forward. Hopefully it will raise the bar in some ways.

As long as it has floors 13-29. Many residentials magically lose those floors (or some similarly numbered floors). For example, 72-story Trump World Tower in New York "has" 90 floors.

I feel like Austin has even more big development news ahead because of the Passing of Prop A. The Statesman site will have two stops at it and I expect we will see a big announcement soonish. As well Republic square is more of a sure thing now that it will have a subway station there. Oh and the Post office site will probably start planning something too. A lot of development was riding on Prop A I think. If you are renting I suggest buying property quick because I gotta feeling that things are gonna get crazy expensive now. I mean they already are but it's just gonna get worse.

I'm hoping we see some stuff come through as a result of Prop A passing as well. Time will tell.

I hope that the rail system ends up being grade separate from the streets when it is above ground. Light rail that interacts with street traffic is nothing more then a trolly or street car to me. It should be modeled after the DC Metro system. Or at least something like the LA Gold Line.

Also they should implement turnstiles or the more modern versions of them instead of relying on a rider honor system like Houston does.

Hi. Long time lurker here. Is Prop A a mass transit approved vote for a subway line? What about light rail or street cars?

It's amazing how much growth that has gone on in Austin over the last 10 years or so, but one thing that has languished is mass transit, from my understanding. Portland is often compared with Austin, and Portland may not be booming quite like Austin, but it's mass transit options are exceptional.

Our transportation packages included two multi-modal bonds which will encompass:

Commuter rail
Light rail with a central subway component (a la Seattle or Boston)
Bus rapid transit
Bikeways
Pedestrian improvements
Roadway infrastructure

Minus the underground portion downtown, will the line be similar to what they have in Minneapolis and St Paul? Because I found that to be a really good system. Plus the density around stops was pretty mind blowing. Would love to see density like that in Austin.

Yes, Minneapolis is a very good comp. Hopefully there is some serious upzoning around the stations to get that density that you speak of.

Just a heads up for this thread also, the FAA received a request last week for 1025 FT for the 98 Red River site. If you were looking for it searching Austin, you probably wouldn't have found it. Someone submitted the wrong city, but, all else is correct including map, lat, long.

I believe that would be 1025' from average grade. The tower will have an entrance at creek level giving the tower - possibly - 10'-20' more feet in official height.

Elevations of 98 Red River have been obtained via an anonymous source. I get a height of 1,022'.
