That whole West Midtown is becoming it's own entity. Impressive stuff for an area that had nothing a decade ago.

Building demolition began this morning on the Stella site, visible on the OxBlue webcam. Water is being hosed onto the rubble to prevent dust clouds. More progress.

Yes, that's what the plain gray building is on the right side.

Looks it will be between the new proposal at 685 11th Street (highlighted in blue) and the Interlock 2.

I commented on months ago about how this building was looking like a prison and hoping for it to improve as its facade came on. Looks like it is going to keep the same "communist USSR block building" look. Does anyone see this as a good look?

The Works phase two is now in initial planning stages

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...-planning.html

Quote:
As the first phase nears completion, Selig Development is laying the groundwork for the next chapter of The Works, its 80-acre mixed-use development on Atlanta’s Westside.

Planning is underway for the second phase of The Works, according to the development arm of Selig Enterprises, one of the largest landowners in the city.

The Works is the largest redevelopment based on land-use in the city. The overall project represents a $400 million investment from the company, and involves the restoration of several industrial buildings into over 2 million square feet of commercial space, in addition to the construction of several new components. Selig has owned the land for over 75 years.

The first phase of Selig's The Works encompasses 27 acres and includes a food hall, green space, around 118,000 square feet of offices and a 306-unit apartment building. So far, existing components are 88% leased and 77% occupied, according to Selig. Leasing begins on the apartment building, called Westbound, in July.

The second phase will encompass another 53 acres of the land, according Selig, and includes all vacant warehouse buildings along Chattahoochee Avenue to Collier Road.

Selig hasn't detailed the types of components that it intends to bring into the second phase, though it intends to come forward with more information in 2024.
