I can’t imagine who else it could be. Since the decline of the Bioinnovation Center, and its inability to keep tenants, I’m wondering if WeWork would aim to supplant it and hopefully succeed where they failed in creating a downtown workspace for small/up and coming biomedical start ups...

Is the other anchor tenant Tulane or LSU Health? They appear to be setting aside 75 residential units so I figured it would be nurse training or something similar.

Lastly, looks like the developer is partnering with Sonder early on to help eat into the available residential units. Considering the size of the project it shouldn’t be a surprise they’re incorporating so many “mini developments” within it

interesting to see Sonder is taking 125 units and the rest will be for main office tenant, middle income/workforce housing, and market rate

There was a publication Tulane put out not long ago that mentioned the Charity project: "Research space, classrooms, housing for students and administrative offices will occupy at least 300,000 of the one million square foot facility set to open late 2021 or early 2022." Obviously things can change, but that's their expectation at this point.

the housing must be the 75 units that the developers are anticipating to be set aside for the anchor tenant Tulane.

while some buildouts can happen later its very important that the building be finsihed by the end of 2021 for occupancy because of the current expiration date for Federal Historic Tax Credit purposes.. while i think these credits will be extended again a project of this scope and size simply cant take that risk.. also this brings up another issue for the Plaza Tower.. that project simply cant be finished by 2021 if started now... so unless we see a significant extension that property is likely to languish for awhile

A fight is brewing between preservationists and a growing number of developers looking to build hotels in a historic enclave of the Central Business District.

https://www.nola.com/news/business/a...05f2dbb78.html

Interesting read on the various hotel projects being proposed in the warehouse district post STR restrictions.

Two Saints is also shown in the graphic, but not specifically mentioned in the article. Is that project still alive?

Marcels projects always take forever.. The Garage which is only just now almost finished; however , marcel doesnt own that parcel where two saints is so my guess is he will have to perform soon or lose the lease.. the julia is also a land lease in a similar fashion

I'm not sure if "preservationists" is the correct term for the residents in this case. The article does not say that they are opposed based on potential harm coming to historic buildings/neighborhoods, but rather that they don't want the area to become "touristy".

In other words the newspaper interviews a couple people in a neighborhood and pretend they speak for everyone when really all they are is a couple NIMBYs. why do papers always give a few people a platform when they are very much in the minority? like who in their right mind prefers surface parking over developed properties? not many people

Very excited to see some movement on this. Looks like they are going after the single family approach after all. I'm curious to see if the design(s) for these will marry well with the proposal for the neighboring lot adjacent to the bridge. These guys did the Baker's Row development at the old Hubig's Pie site, so they have a good eye for contextual design while pushing the envelope.
