The Station [1518-1526 Stittsville Main St] | 2+4f | U/C

SITE PLAN CONTROL APPLICATION FOR 1518 STITTSVILLE MAIN STREET
by Glen Gower | Dec 13, 2020 | Development

The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control application for 1518, 1524 and 1526 Stittsville Main Street. The site is immediately south of the Trans Canada Trail. Inverness Homes wants to build a mixed-use building with a two-storey restaurant/office space along Stittsville Main Street, and a four-storey 33-unit residential apartment in behind. The development would include an underground parking garage with 35 spaces, and a further 42 spaces on the surface.

More info on Devapps: https://devapps.ottawa.ca/en/applica...BBOB7V/details

This is an important site along Stittsville Main Street and I’m glad to see this proposal come forward from Inverness. They’ve partnered with architect Malcolm Wildeboer, a Stittsville resident who has designed buildings like Alice’s Café in Carp and the restored Cheshire Cat Pub on Richardson Side Road. The brick train station design is a nod to Stittsville’s railroad history and the patio space out front will bring some new life to this part of Stittsville Main. (A heritage brick building stood on this site until a fire in 2013. It was once known as Bradley’s General Store, and more recently was home to Louisiannie’s restaurant.) We’ll be holding an information meeting in the new year to share more information about this project and to hear feedback from residents.

You can send comments and questions to planner Laurel McCreight at laurel.mccreight@ottawa.ca or 613-580-2424 ext. 16587, and you can copy glen.gower@ottawa.ca. Deadline for comments is January 7, 2021.

I would love to see more of this kind of development along our Main Streets. Classic frontage with residential behind. This is great.

It’s a couple months old but here is Glen Gower’s information meeting about the project:

I wasn't able to get a picture, but it looks like they have started digging the foundation.

Status update

According to this article on Stittsville Central, this development is called "The Station."

Also, at the 54:17 mark on the 121 Brae Zoning By Law Amendment information meeting in August, Glen Gower said: "Next to Ritual [On Main Cafe] there's a project called The Station. They've been on hold for a little bit just because the housing market and some of the interest rates and so on, but they're planning to have shovels in the ground soon." (stutters and fillers removed)

Looking at the parcel, it seems as though the digging was to install services, but everything has been covered up and nothing has happened since.
