The Unicity Taco Bell (which later added KFC) is now undergoing a full remodel, likely to compete with the recently opened Popeye's. From the temporary construction signage it seems like it is actually going to convert to a dedicated KFC.

I’m pretty certain it will stay a KFC/Taco Bell after renovations are complete.

Why would anyone eat at Taco Bell? That food is not fit for Dogs to eat.

Earl of Sandwich will be opening at Seasons, across from Frankies and next to F45 near the Outlet mall.

It's taking over Crust Pizzeria, which was under renovations a few months ago.

They are everywhere . I prefer a quality pizza with quality toppings.
Especially, the meat toppings at Za, Pizza Hotline, Papa Johns, Papa Murphys etc are 3rd- 4th rate.
I do not have to pay much more to get it.Usually a local pizzeria.

I was a bit surprised to see that Skinners location at the Forks has closed. I read that it was the Forks that decided not to renew their lease. Does anyone know if businesses at the Forks pay a fixed rent or is rent based on a percentage of sales?

I find it odd to discontinue leasing to an iconic business after 30 years unless they think they can bring in another business that will end up paying more money in rent.

^^ The Forks better be careful who's teeth they kick in. There was a time they were financial unstable and places like Skinners and Sk8 moved in and helped keep they afloat. Now that times are on the up swing rather than let Skinners remain as they wanted The Forks is going to kick them out? Not a good look on The Forks.

This is exactly what happened, they had a higher bid come in for the space. See The Forks thread for more on this.

The point being they didn't even offer Skinners a chance. And told them after it was all done they were not being renewed. After Skinners has been there for a long time, paying the bills.

^^ Re Skinners v the evil faceless borg (The Forks).

From what has been made public it sounds like Skinners was willing to pay an increase and possibly match the higher bid but was not offered to chance to stay at the higher rate.

Definitely wrong there. The Unicity KFC/Taco Bell is maintaining the hybrid format after renos. The put up new Taco Bell signage yesterday. Have to wonder if they will implement the newer Taco Bell format and apply for a liquor license.

Is FNP acting outside the normal range of behaviour for commercial landlords here? I would think FNP is just (properly) managing in the best interests of their shareholders. They don't really owe Skinners anything.

I have a family member whos a higher up in business banking and pretty much puts the blame solely on Skinners for not having a better lease with right of first refusal. That is common practice in the industry and something Skinners obviously didn't negotiate into their previous leases.
