With Crown and Signature you are at least making a very good statement.
Yeah, I know what you mean about UP. I always head over there when I'm feeling a little too chipper and need to come down.

Since I left the area a few years ago, it has really grown up.

I'm so proud of Nashville.

Actually, scratch that. I'm proud of each and every one of our Southern cities... Nashville, Birmingham, Atlanta, Memphis, Charlotte -- all of them. They're all improving drastically and are truly coming of age. Now is a great time to be in the SOuth

Here are some news links for Signature's latest marketing tool. Kind of cool and kooky at the same time. Could be fun. Basically they are going to give hot air balloon rides so potential buyers can be raised the same height of various floors. I imagine the penthouse views will be spectacular and totally unobstructed. Here is a link to the news report by Richard Lawson.

Here's an updated rendering from an ad in the Nashville City Paper. Compare to the old rendering at the bottom. I like the new design of the crown and spire even better than the old, and I like the way the design is incorporated at the top of the Hotel section at about floor 14. Groundbreaking still expected on July 4th.

versus an older rendering:

Definitely an improvement at the base (around 14 floors). Like the Dude's rug, it really ties things together.

didn't think it could get much better, but the subtle changes are an improvement.

I know I'm waaay in the minority but I really didn't like it until the recent changes. The base is a bit more defined and it looks a lot more elegant.

It kind of looks to me like what might result from the Empire State Building and the Chrysler building mating. I like it.

Though this is a real nice looking tower and good for Nashville for getting it...I'm still disappointed that a smaller city like Nashville (what like 500,000 people)? can get a taller tower than the city of Los Angeles which is the 2nd largest city in the whole United States of America. And places like Philadelphia (1,500,000) can't even get a 1,000 footer.

I love the design of this building, and I say good for Nashville for raising the bar.

I'm curious. The groundbreaking for July, will it be a real one with heavy equipment or a symbolic one with dignitaries in funny hats and gold shovels? I've seen too many of the symbolic ones that lead to nada. So I'm hoping to see pictures of BIG machines clearing dirt on these pages soon.

A lot of excavation is required. First, 30 feet of dirt must be removed, followed by 80 feet of solid limestone rock. That's a 110 foot hole. I'm sure there will be lots heavy machinery doing to excavation, and I'll do my best to post some pics. Then the tower will rise 1,167 Ft from the bottom of that hole, 1,057 feet of that above grade.
