I honestly can't think of a more, how should I say, universally appreciated type of joint. This will just contribute to a more local 'fast food' culture in town, which is good. Nevermind drivethrus, let's get more hole in the wall joints that you can be in and out in 5 minutes.

Re: Cinema City. I didn't even notice. Checked show times and they have Joker and Cats playing. Otherwise yes, definitely Bollywood.

Would Cineplex open 2 theatres and Rec Room in one year, in Winnipeg? Seems aggressive. I guess we will see.

Would all of this not be run through the city committees and maybe have info available on the clerks website?

Don't forget the line-ups of people outside the government agencies

Now that I am dialed in to the Shawarma-metrics (thanks, tv), I understand that this is a huge win in the analytics realm. Winnipeg's downtown activity may not pass the eye test, but the underlying metrics suggest the city will perform well into the future and is just one good interior shot-blocker, err, crime stopper away from taking the next step. Or something.

Marginally related - I love Shawarma!

In a first year human geography course I took the professor said that noting neighbourhoods where artists and gay people were moving to was a great way to predict rising property values. Looks like shawarma joints are the new gentrification north stars!

Based on this, I'm assuming this is going to be like Best Pizza and Donair. And that the pizzas will not be the North American style pizzas.

Winnipeg gentrification is sure picking up some steam... as long as it doesn't turn the city into San Francisco, full of overpriced homes, people shitting on the streets & WPS basically going too "afraid" to do their jobs - then i can't complain tooooooo too much. Minus the lack of jobs and cheap thrills.

Yeah that is a common concern amongst Winnipeggers. Everyone is talking about how we're on the verge of turning into San Francisco.

I would like to see something like this development in Kamloops for the strip of surface lots on Donald at St Mary. Not everything has to be a 20 storey tower.

I'd like to see something like that on south Main St. on the land where Earls sits, if they decide to move to Winnipeg Sq.

To be fair most of the pizzas here are pretty true to pizzas in Italy questions topping choices aside (bbq chicken, pineapple, christmas diner?)
