Dubai can keep their Burj Dubai, it just looks ridiculous in Downtown!

There isn't a block large enough in downtown to fit the Burj so we can be thankful for that.

Are all those buildings really to scale? If so, damn they'd look whacked in our skyline...

^ Yes, I do believe they are to scale. Bow might be a little short.. it's going to be 236m and manulife is only 146m

Looks right to me. Depends on the angle you look at it from.

If the Burj was built in Edmonton, I wonder from how far away on Highway 2 it would be visible.

Someone should photoshop the other developments that are proposed in that photo or some other angle. It would be cool to see.

I guess I'm one of the only people who thinks this, but the Bow is an awfully boring building to me. It doesn't match anything else in the Calgary skyline and as such, looks more out of place than I would in the NBA. It's tall'ish and it's glass, and it has a silly sculpture in front of it, and I guess that that's enough to win the hearts of most folk. Maybe it's popular because it is so unique in that skyline, but here's my point: I joined this board just to say this, really-- I hope that when Edmonton begins to build new highrises in the coming years, and if that 72 (or 71) storey condo tower is built, well, I hope it looks absolutely nothing like the Bow.

Then again, it might just be jealousy... but I doubt it.

Stantec

Saw these on connect2edmonton... hope there's no problem with me cross-posting over here. All images credit C2E user Spill, http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/forum...&postcount=963

Stantec Tower preliminary design approximation

Based on the images released August 26, 2014, here is an approximation (in Google Earth 3D) of the Stantec Tower preliminary design in context. These images have the tower as 224-metres tall with a 25-metre spire and an imagined LED strip on the south side (featuring the colours of the Edmonton Oilers).

I think the Stantec tower will have the the greatest visual impact when viewed from CCA looking south, like the view from the bleachers during the Indy. Definitely fills in a gap in the skyline there.

Frickin' awesome. I SO hope this gets built. A tower this massive will finally drag Edmonton's skyline into the new millennium!

Who owns Stantec's existing buildings? I know they sold several years ago. At least they'll have a few years to plan for the space coming back to them.

Bow is butt ugly, but nice and tall.

'Bow is butt ugly'

To each their own I guess, not a huge fan either, but please turn in your architecture review card before you cause further harm.
