Great start to my morning, looks like all hands are on deck glass today

Video [33s]

There are also ironworkers welding the window frames for the southeast shear wall. Hopefully there is activity on the north face too. I adore how this building comes alive every morning, particularly on monday after a deep sleep over the weekend

It is really nice to see this one getting glassed up, especially after many of us were fearing that it may not see glass until after being topped off. One less thing to worry about during this cycle!

^^^ Took me a second, but you can definitely see the color variation in that last pic between two adjacent frustums. This is going to be stunning.

Silly question, perhaps, but how many lanes will be the road that passes under Vista and connects to Wacker? I'm assuming it will be a 2 lane road (1 each direction) with speed bumps? Would it be correct to assume that there will also be driveways into the Vista building for taxicabs, cars, Ubers etc that come off of this road? Anybody have any drawings of the road layout at their disposal?

^ Thanks for taking the time out to post those.

These renderings are nice, but I've always found them uninformative-- an actual diagram would be better.

Also, I think it's a poor planning choice to have the taxi drop off "bump out" on the east side. I imagine most Uber/Taxi traffic would be coming in from Wacker Drive, thus the west side seems to be a more natural place for such a bump out.

Welcome

At least on this early (still Wanda) diagram it looks like they planned for two-way traffic on that lower road.

If they are, it will be a smaller area than depicted in the rendering. They already have normal glass on the 4th floor

Kolchak, thanks so much for posting those renderings. It was just this morning that I was biking under it and thinking about which material they'll use

The frustum shaped glass is supposed to go on the bumped-out center section with the angled columns. The haven't installed any panels in that section yet, so I'm holding out hope.

That said, they do have four straight steel vertical beams mounted in that area. I assume this is to support whatever system they'll use to hold the glazing system in place, but I'm a little concerned that these would't compliment the jagged design of the frustum pattern.

It's now about 10 floors above the upper setback. According to SkyscraperPage's official diagram of this building, 10 floors above the setback should be ~313 m. Assuming I am counting correctly, there are only 12 floors left to go.

I will be in Chicago in mid-Nov and if I am lucky, it may have topped out by then!

I'm holding out hope for it, too. I think it would make for a beautiful effect from ground level upon entry and is such a great nod to the design of the entire building. Good point about the steel beams, I don't see them in the rendering/they would look bad with the frustrum pattern

I was just told by one of my contacts that it's scheduled to top out mid-late February. Seems like a long time to me considering how fast it has been going, but maybe the upper-level concrete work is going to get really complex when it comes to the tuned mass damper...
