Well, its a fully fixtured restaurant space...so not too many other options in that building. I believe they converted the former retail spaces facing Jasper to conference/meeting rooms.

I guess its the best way to renovate Vons. Move to a new location. The Strathcona location is getting a bit thread bare.

Is Von's any good? I've never been.

It's decent and a bit old school.

We were there last year and it was quiet so a change of location was probably in order.
In their heyday both Vons and the Keg were great steakhouses in Strathcona.

Vons used to have, on Friday, for HH an oyster for a buck. We would go in for a friend meetup and order platters of them ... hours later have a great steak. Staff were amazing "back in the day". I have been looking at some of the steakhouse prices in Edmonton and the prices ridiculously high.

There was quite the crowd/social/networking there on those nights.

has there ever been a Krispy Kreme in Edmonton? I know the Canadian franchise/company shut down a lot if not most of the Canadian locations before reopening in recent years. The BC location is part of the Seattle franchise holder and was never affected.

Nope. It was meant to go into SEC, but as you mentioned, the Canadian operator and KK issues led to its demise before it even got going.

Very sad news, #yeg, #yegdt.

Just learned that Rice Howard Place (former Scotia Place) is renovating their food court and with it closing March 1, 2024, Amy is calling it quits. There are only 10 more months of Chicken for Lunch left. 😭

It is sad news for us hot and dry chicken lovers but hopefully Amy will be able to kick back a little though she will probably continue to be the host with the most at the Lingnan. She is a wonderful hard working person as is the staff at Chicken for Lunch.

To clarify, the condo unit is for sale, not the business. Greta is a tenant.
