For one, the new bridge is for the most part higher than the old one. The contrast’s simply too strong for my eyes.
Also, it’s ironic to see the construction on A15-A20 closer to the camera. The highway doesn’t even seem to be on the same straight line as the bridge.

Because it’s not.

I meant to say, if one isn’t familiar with MTL, they won’t know they’re the same.

She turned out amazing. The primary suspension support pylon almost looks like the cancelled Tour Montreal-Paris, just with the connection at the bottom instead of top.

The Brossard-Downtown Montreal branch of the currently under construction REM (Réseau express métropolitain) will run along the centre section.

What's wrong with a cantilever bridge? They may not be new or modern, but they're still pretty slick aren't they? Practically every medium to medium-large span built in the last 25 years has been cable-stayed so these older bridges are becoming more and more unique.

It will. The mast, the pillars and the deck.

Uno trestle bridge, crossing Minnewasta Creek, near Uno, Manitoba.

https://www.manitobacooperator.ca/co...restle-bridge/

It replaced an older wooden beauty to the left in the photo below (foundation for the new bridge on the right). The old one was destroyed by a tornado in 1915.

Although they aren't "great bridges", Manitoba Historical Society has lots of examples of small, old concrete bridges that cross the little creeks/rivers in out of the way places. A few examples below.

Concrete bowstring arch over Turtle River, 1921

Concrete beam bridge of Scallion Creek, 1916

Concrete arch over Assiniboine River, 1920
