Yeah I hope not too, but I checked the zonining diagrams and most recent one as of this March, and I hope there is some validity to the following.

Note the spire @ 1,514 ft...

True but NYC is probably one of the few (if only) places in the world that a 600+ meter tower could be necessary.

Plus, the name Park Central Tower will go great with Central Park Tower

I think necessity really based on the location, transit access (subway), and tenant/demand needs. With rising land prices, up is the only way that is feasible, especially in Midtown East or Hudson Yards neighborhood. Its not IF we will get a mega-tall, but WHEN.

And it wouldn't interfere with the FAA max height cap because a mega-tall at 600m is 1968 ft.

Any news about this tower , i hope it will be a megatall To give the singature tower in midtown manhattan
With rise a lot off building exceeding the 1400ft in midtown like 270 park and 350 park one vandy and steinway building and tower fifth also central park tower we conclued that we absolutely we need a megatall

You don't have to keep asking for updates on any projects. If nothing is posted, just assume there is none, or look for some yourself. It grows very old.

My bet is mixed use. Hotel/retail at the base, with hotel occupying lower floors, and condos/market rate purchasable units a top.

That rendering is at least 1800 feet, but I don't know how much to trust a rendering that has an antenna on Northstrom.

This tower development site is currently the Park Central Hotel. There's no indication that this is an "official name" of any future tower.

Often, building names aren't announced until the marketing phase, which is probably a few years away. But, who knows. If the economy doesn't go into recession, maybe they'll start in this cycle.

Not sure, can't help but think this is just a vision though. The Instagram post was pretty vague.

Is anyone actively looking to tear down the hotel and build a tower in the near future?
