The Minneapolis system of skybridges & indoor walkways, called Skyways, connects 80 blocks of downtown and runs for more than 8 miles (13 km). Each bridge is unique in its design. It's hard to choose just one, but my fave might be the ones connecting to the IDS Crystal Court. Downtown St. Paul has a comparable system but all bridges there have the same design.

Actually they are hot! Or at least warm considering the city's reputation for cold winters!

Phoenix: The Anti-Minneapolis

It is surprising that Phoenix doesn't have a lot of sky bridges. I expect as the Phoenix skyline becomes more dense that sky bridges will proliferate as they have the opposite extreme to that of Minneapolis. Sky bridges make a lot of sense for cities with the extremes of Minneapolis and Phoenix.

Here is Renaissance Square in DT Phoenix; not a real impressive sky bridge but a very nice complex just the same.

These are the best pics I could find of Jacksonville's most prominent skybridge. This bridge connects Baptist Medical Center to Nemours Children's Clinic, crossing busy Interstate 95 on the Southbank.

The children's clinic:

at night, from the interstate. It continues off to the left where it connects to Baptist Medical Center:

Total length: 640 ft (main span: over 200 ft)

I dont have any pictures available, but Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, MI has a series of skywalks connecting parking, academic buildings, library, science center and the fieldhouse. Off the top of my head I can think of 6 skywalks on campus.

It is quite possible to partake in a complete college career without ever having to walk on the ground. Though not architecturally appealing, the skywalks make getting around this urban campus very convenient.

webcam with slight view of skywalk:

Second longest system in the world, after Calgary's 16km long system (called Plus 15s in local parlance). That picture even looks like it could come from downtown Calgary.

Boston has a pretty cool skybridge connecting the Prudential center and Copley.

Its good because it crosses diagnolly a real busy intersection, these are the only pics i could find though:

I don't have a pic, but there is a really cool looking circular skybridge that connects the 4 building complex that Enron used to occupy in Downtown Houston. It connects 2 office towers with 2 mult-story parking garages.

Every casino fromting on Atlantic City's boardwalk has a skybridge connecting it to it's parking garage across Pacific Ave and most of them are pretty fancy. My favorite is the Hilton with black and gold carpet and and lots of gilt and mirrors.

Well, when complete, it will come out of a building and then curve around over the edge of the canyon and then go back into the same building.

Recent construction shots.

The glass floor will cover that gap between the beams where you see that guy welding in the last picture. The structure will be pushed out over the edge of the canyon with the "jack and roll" method and then the building will be built.
