Love to see infill like this. I've always thought that the West Loop between Clinton and the Expressway has felt dead compared to the surrounding areas due to the weird patchwork of parking lots. Nice to see more developement here. This is also way better than Catalyst & that dual-hotel on the same block. Interacts with the street in a much more engaging way.

Agreed, although I haven't seen anyone using the newish pocket park in front of Emme.

That's not a public space, it's just a landscaped entrance to the luxury apartments. As residential towers go, Exhibit on Wells did a better job, putting the residential entrance on the street side and opening the pocket park up to a retail tenant (Left Coast Juice Bar). The park there feels much more public. For a more corporate example, the pocket park next to 155 N Wacker is also successful although only during 9-5 hours.

To be clear, there is some "open space" in that West Loop area besides parking lots, but all of it horribly designed and forlorn. ABN AMRO has a little pocket park on the site of their proposed second phase, there is plaza space around the Social Security Building, Presidential Towers has a landscaped car turnaround, etc. Clearly nobody has read William H Whyte... My real dream for that area is to pedestrianize Clinton between Lake and Jackson, maybe with a southbound bus lane to keep transit moving.

Nice. I'm going to try to find it.

369 W Grand

From June 1, 2020.

Is this the final finish on the brick? Is there another step to clean up the mortar? Looks a little crude to put it nicely.

Today on the bike ride. Really digging how this one is turning out but I still like the brown brick better in the rendering.

Medical Center Apartments renovation - not sure if a rendering was ever posted?

----

Fulton Labs Development moves ahead as Trammell Crow Company closes on Land

Trammell Crow Company (TCC) has closed on the land that will be used to build Fulton Labs, a 423,454-square-foot facility that is being developed to help solve chronic lab space shortage throughout the Chicago region.

The 1.3-acre plot of land that TCC purchased is located at 400 N. Aberdeen Street in Chicago’s vibrant Fulton Market neighborhood. The company expects to break ground on the innovative life science facility in July. CBRE is marketing the project for lease.

Those roof elements are so inane and a waste. Just like that super lame flying waste of material that was added to the residential building west edge of the Kennedy.
