Posting this in the suburban skyline thread, but it's mostly just suburb, without the skyline.

The lower part of the image is Ottawa, just outside the traditional downtown. From left to right, we have the National Research Council HQ (stone building on the river) and the Lester B. Pearson Building, HQ to Global Affairs. Next we have Green Island, with the former City Hall (original 1958 building and 1988 Moshe Sfdie addition). The Feds now own it, a second office for Global Affairs, named John G. Diefenbaker Building by the Harper Government (oh, the irony).

On the other side, next to the river and falls, is Tavern on the Falls followed by the French Embassy. The rest is the Rockliffe Park and New Edinburgh area. The more forest like setting to the far right is where you'll find the Prime Minister's residence 24 Sussex (river side, though not lived in since Trudeau was voted in, for renovations that still haven't happened) and Rideau Hall, home to the Governor General.

On the other side of the river is the Gatineau sector of Gatineau.

Another shot of the Gatineau sector of Gatineau, Qc. The right side of the image posted above is the left side of the image below.

Does Richmond have like a 14 floor height restriction? Not necessarily a bad thing, just interesting that everything seems to be the same height.

Excellent density none-the-less.

Do to the proximity of YVR, I believe there is a 47m/150ft height limit.

Also apparently the soil isn't stable enough to support super tall structures - or so I've heard. I wish I had a link to support this statement .

But yeah, the airport limits things. As much as I hate a table-top skyline, I feel like Richmond does make the most of its limitations by having these stubbier towers sprawl everywhere. Richmond will turn out to be a very nice suburb with mid-dense buildings IMO.

That's absolutely correct! Richmond's soil is considered to be wetland soils and are more saturated than soil in neigbouring regions. The soil isn't suited for tall builds unfortunately.

The western side of the Vancouver CMA (don't mind the massive Van skyline in the centre)...

Richmond actually has a huge amount of highrises, but obviously not 'skyscrapers'. It is bound by the hieght limit, but it certainly maximizes whatever it can, and makes up for the height with sheer quantity. There's actually so much density in the City Centre, and has expanded into North Richmond and by the Oval. Work with what you got, at least it's height limit is actually due to real factors such as aircraft and soil, and not fictitious restraints *cough* view cones *cough*

Some rare drone footage of two of Vancouver's ten seperate suburban skylines, Surrey and New Westminter, which you do not see very often.

If the video doesn't play in the embed, click the link and it plays on YouTube.
