it's being screened in U.K theatres before movies and will be hitting China this winter as well. It's had almost 1,7 million views on youtube since it aired Nov 20th so it seems to be working.

I worked on these spots last year.

Equating hits on youtube with whether an ad is successful? For all you know, 1.7 million people have now decided to cancel their trip to Canada. Btw, 70 million people watched a water buffalo escape the jaws of an alligator on youtube. The BC clip is great. Well done.

People generally don't click on a youtube video unless they are somewhat interested on seeing it. That video made me feel pretty lucky to live in such a great country. It makes me want to explore more of it and I'm sure that's the general reaction from most who see it.

Here's a list of articles (with links) on Montreal published during the year in the international press. It's a long list.

Since you are in Montreal I would imagine this is the image of the Prairies that you will hear (if Montrealers ever think of the Prairies at all)

There is alot of that but there is so much more. Being a Saskatoban (there is not much to differentiate a South Western Manitoban from a South Eastern Saskatchewanian) I dearly love the area.

Assiniboine River

Cypress Hills (okay they are in the SW but you catch my meaning)

Spruce Woods

Skiing in Western Manitoba (the skiers here will howl at Prairie ski knolls but remember Mark McMorris - x-games gold medal winner learned his trade at hill very similar to this one)

Saskatoon Jazz festival

Victoria Beach on Lake Manitoba

These are all areas in the southern half of Saskatoba. I haven't even scratched the surface of the northern half.

The latest videos from Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism were released today. Yay!

Video Link

(I love how they take a boat to what is probably the most easily accessible light house in the province - just minutes from downtown St. John's. Also, the nearest pebble beach where they could have pulled that boat up would have to be many hours hiking away... at least Middle Cove Beach, I assume? But I guess you have to go to extraordinary measures for your adulterous early-morning romps with your guy who doesn't live with you...).

Video Link

(I assume this means tomfoolery is a Newfoundland English word? I thought it existed everywhere?)

The third of the Hamilton videos was the weakest, imho, but I really liked the first one. Seems like Hamilton wants to become Philiadelphia to Toronto's NYC. It does make me want to drive over and check the place out (when the weather improves!). Funny how seldom folks from K-W seem to go down to Hamilton unless they're on their way to Niagara or the border.

If you really want to see the real Canada, just take the side roads (even the gravel ones) and make your way across the country. Stop in as many towns as you can and have breakfast, lunch and dinner as you go. The surprises you find will be worth more than just picking a bunch of destinations. Of course, you should do a bit of research, but making it random can be the best part. In the prairies, the trans canada highway doesnt offer much scenery or culture.

For the prairies......go through

Winnipeg, Portage la Prairie, then north to riding mountain national park.

Then.....Yorkton, Saskatoon, then west through Rosthern......then north battleford, then Edmonton.......down to Calgary........Then to Crowsnest Pass.....then Fernie.......Nelson, then to ....Okanagan........Then vancouver and vancouver island.

I kind of did that trip once, but took a different route along the south edge of manitoba and saskatchewan, and I will never forget it.

The most honest depiction of St. John's yet, I think...

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day all year long!

Hamilton Tour

On skyscrapercity.com, a user named Jaybird recently took his first trip to Hamilton and made a great photo tour. His negative impression of what Hamilton is completely changed.

Here is what he said at the start of his photo tour:

"I paid my first real visit to the nearby city of Hamilton, Ontario (120 km or about 70 miles) on the weekend of February 1, 2013. I spent the weekend in the city of 520,000 taking a picture tour of downtown, toured the city's famous historic 19th century mansion, Dundurn Castle, attended a Hamilton Bulldogs AHL hockey game (they are the farm team of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens), toured Durand, one of Canada's most architecturally diverse neighborhoods, Locke Street Village, and went to a theatrical play at Theatre Aquarius.

Also, I have a statement to make. To anyone who has gotten a negative impression of the city of Hamilton for its steel mills passing by on the PLEASE DON'T LET THE STEEL MILLS FOOL YOU, because behind it is a vibrant growing city with great civic pride and a sense of community with lots to see and do! If you come to this great city with an open mind like I did, I'm sure you will get the same impression.

In the past a long time ago, I know I have said some negative comments about the city, but that's because I didn't know the city well and because I took too much pride in London, the city closest to me, and to the people on the forums who live in or like Hamilton and take pride in their community, I sincerely apologize and take back those comments."
