Aren't their colors orange and navy? I think that picture is just a black and white photoshop of the UTSA logo on a football helmet

Yep. Orange and Navy. The mock jersey and helmet looks pretty sweet.

This is great news for San Antonio, considering that it's the largest city in the U.S. without a collegiate Division I football team. All I can say is......FINALLY!

there are blue helmets at the announcement.

but remember not to get too tied to such designs. even the houston texans changed their helmets before they played their first game - they were originally going to be white.

Those in the picture look pretty good. I don't know why I was thinking purple.

Actually, New York, Chicago, and Phoenix technically do not have Division I football teams. Northwestern is in Evanston, Arizona St. is in Tempe, and Rutgers is in New York.

If you are talking Metro areas, then you are closer to being correct because then San Antonio would be the second largest Metro without a Division I football program. St. Louis would be number one.

I hope they can lure a decent coachto come build the program. Once the ball starts rolling they should have plenty of resources to build a Division I Athletic Department.

One thing that the Athletic Department needs to focus on is building an athletic training complex that attracts athletes. Who cares about an on campus stadium if you can't field a decent team.

Kansas City also does not have div I football, and though its MSA is smaller than San Antonio's (by about 5,000), its CSA is larger.

It is true that SA is/was the largest city and metro without either an NFL team or div I football team. Luckily that's changing

Your right, I missed Kansas City. Being from St. Louis I tend to forget Kansas City easily. So, I guess that would make San Antonio the third largest metro area without a D-I Football Program.

Until, 2011 that is.

Down to 3:

- Larry Coker, former Miami head coach

- Paul Randolph, Tulsa associate head coach

- Mel Tjeerdsma, Northwest Missouri head coach

I think Coker would bring the most glamour and alumnus donations to the program. If UTSA wants to start big he's the way to go.

I know Randolph is a great recruiter, but I think Coker's resume would speak for itself. I'd love to have Larry Coker as our first head coach.

Don't know if this is the actual uniform/look of the jersey or they just put it together quickly via photo shop but I like the color and the helmet. Keep it dark!

Wow, that is a great looking uniform, I hope they go with that!

And I agree, Coker would be the best choice for head coach.

Yeah, I would say go for white pants, but then it would look to much like UVA's uniforms.

No way that's photoshopped. Those are good-looking uniforms, though I'm getting a bit of a Denver Broncos vibe. Not sure if that's a plus or not...

Yes, the jersey is real. I'm one of the student leaders of FCA @ UTSA, and one of the jerseys was a prize one night for a student who answered a question asked by Associate Athletic Director Brad Parrott correctly.

On a cool side note, I believe our guest speaker next week is Jerheme Urban of the Arizona Cardinals (he played football at Trinity)

I am a Randolph fan. Coker would be a great name, but UTSA will be in the SLC...not exactly Miami.

We need a guy who is used to the small-time programs, who can recruit to build a successful program at the starter level, and who is young enough to want to ride this train to glory over the next 10 years.

I don't want to rent a name. i want to buy a foundation.
