No one knows how tall it will be because it hasn't been designed.
Yes it has broken ground, unless the south part of the Justice center is growing steel out of the back side and dirt and equipment is the new landscaping scheme they have. We know that no rendering or estimates have been made of the FEDERAL BUILDING, this is not the thread for it anyway.

Was it? I thought it was about the 10 STORY JUSTICE CENTER ADDITION; just like the thread suggests. You can't just show up 8 months late to a thread and change the topic.
We know the site for the Federal building is the SAPD HQ's. I think if you would read the whole thread you would see that any confusion has been sorted out.

This site is a forum. We talk about things, we are not “officials” making announcements.
We have visions of what we think should happen DT, but like I said nothing is official, but it is open for discussion.

So it's topped out then. Looks good. I'm surprised they used a steel frame. Most buildings in Texas are concrete. Steel skeletons go up faster typically, so I wonder if they went with that for schedule reasons.

I like the building. It suits San Antonio well.

now wait for the city to do something permanent with the former city hall annex and we have some real density building in the southern area of DT proper...

^I believe so too. Most older buildings in Texas were made of steel. Austin's first steel skyscraper, the Scarborough Building, was built in 1910. Few others have been built since the 60s though.

Austin is winning the height contest (and some pretty cool buildings), but SA is putting up buildings in keeping with the feel of the city (except for the Bland Hyatt).

Bexar County plans to invest in downtown solar-energy system
San Antonio Business Journal

Bexar County Commissioners Court is close to receiving $1 million in federal funds that will be used toward the development of the Bexar County Solar Collection Farm and Distribution Center.

This project involves the installation of a 200-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at the Bexar County Justice Center. The county wants the solar system at the building to generate 10 percent of its annual electricity usage.

So how's this nice addition coming along? how high has the internal framing gone up to now...I'm glad this was built behind the current justice center to bring some life to DT away from where it's at currently, even though its just the other side of the block. Also, from one of the pics I saw that they started re-doing the roof to the courthouse (and as I remember, trying to match the new tiles color scheme with the old ones) how's that looking at the moment

Good shots Paul, looks like we're adding density where it counts - at street level.

My exact thoughts! Just can't wait for the super talls to be announced.

If the new Federal Building can be similar height or taller, that would completly change that area from what is/was a couple years ago.

Shouldn't be long before we hear an announcement about that. SAPD has to be in their new building within 2 years.

It's interesting that the "back side" of downtown is getting these newer buildings.

I heard they were going to build a 5 story parking garage by this one. Since this building took the parking that was there...
