Paramount at MWC finally ready to go vertical:

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/busi...109249567.html

Quote:
Miami condo tower will pour 52 million pounds of concrete for foundation

More than a decade after proposing the massive, mixed-use project known as Miami Worldcenter, developers are laying the foundation for a 60-story luxury condo tower in downtown’s derelict Park West district.

One hundred trucks and more than 700 construction workers will start pouring an estimated 52 million pounds of concrete for the high-rise, called Paramount Miami Worldcenter, at 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. General contractor CoastalTishman will perform the 30-hour pour.

In a statement, developer Daniel Kodsi called the milestone “a very proud moment in the evolution of the city as our tower and neighborhood fulfill its potential to become a gleaming global landmark for the city of Miami.”

The tower is expected to be completed in 2018

Kodsi is one of several partners behind the long-planned project, which was delayed first by the Great Recession and then by debates over public subsidies. Also slated for the 27-acre site are an open-air shopping center, rental towers and a hotel.

^ Finally !!! After so many years of delays Paramount now becomes Miami's 15th. tower U/C over 500+ ft. | 152+ meters !

We still don't have a seperate thread for Paramount.
If we do I can't find it & if we don't we need one to follow it's development individually.

World Center is going to help fill the skyline mass nicely. Along with the rest rising.

Do you guys ever get that feeling that Miami could easily develop like the large cities in Brazil like Sao Paulo or Rio. The potential is there if this keeps up.

Glad this is starting up

I think with the all of the rail projects going on and future infrastructure projects in the next 2-8 years, Miami-Dade as whole is thinking big.

It'll definitely get bigger, and even more urban. Not at that level of Sao Paulo of course, but the region as a whole will continue to become denser and stronger economically. Unless the U.S. opened the floodgates to immigrants, and we have a NY moment for Miami were millions of immigrants pour into the region, but thats unlikely. Especially now in this era we are in.

Zom To Pay $19M For 434-Unit Luma Apartment Tower Development Site

Quote:
An affiliate of apartment developer Zom is in advanced negotiations to acquire the 0.3326 acre site where the Luma apartment tower is planned, according to recently released Miami Worldcenter bond documents.

The expected sales price is $19.125 million, but the deal is not yet in contract. Closing is expected in the second or third quarter of 2017.

Zom is only expected to place a nominal contract deposit as part of the deal, due to the large amount the company is spending on pre-development costs for Luma such as architecture and engineering.

Luma will include 434 apartment units in a 44-story tower.

Worldcenter Negotiating To Sell Retail Site For $25M, Adding 200-Room Hotel To First Phase

Quote:
Part of Miami Worldcenter’s Tract A (which is partially under construction) is in negotiations to be sold off to a retail developer, according to newly released bond documents .

The sale would include 1.4 acres at a price of about $25m. Approximately 500,000 square feet of retail and commercial is expected to be built on that site.

On a separate parcel, MWC Holdings is developing 350,000 square feet of retail, which Taubman and The Forbes Company have an option to purchase. Construction will begin by the end of the first calendar quarter of 2017.

Tract A is now also expected to include a 200-room hotel. MWC Holdings intends to develop a boutique hotel, “likely with a development partner,” the documents state.

Miami Worldcenter Bond to Fund Downtown Miami Infrastructure
Quote:
A group of property owners within the boundaries of Miami Worldcenter, a 27-acre masterplanned development in the heart of Miami, has finalized the sale of $74 million in new bonds to fund privately financed infrastructure upgrades in the core. The issuance by Miami Worldcenter Community Development District (CDD) clears the path for billions of dollars in private sector investment, thousands of new jobs, and a plethora of streetscape enhancements.
