An update for all of us desperate Saint Loueys.

1 - I'm thinking I hate the blank wall back. Anyone know of any plans for the lot behind the Park East Tower?

2 - View from in front of the Chez Leon restaurant. Some of the facing on the front is starting to be put in place. I'm pretty disappointed that the bottom podium looks to be entirely parking garage. A wasted opportunity for a great corner.

3 - A better view of some of the front facing. The renderings looked way better than this. I'm still hopeful.

4 - A view from the Barnes Jewish parking garage. The tower is already three floors up on the garage and it still has about sixteen floors to go.

5 - Looking East down Laclede.

What time where you there today. I was there just before 2pm, and everything looked exactly the same. Didn't have a chance to get up in the garage today. In response to the wasted opportunity comment, the ground floor is retail, and the parking is completely masked, so it's not like it will look like a parking garage. The rendering does look a little different though, and it looks like metal in the rendering.

More pics from today, 12-20-05.

The blank wall on the back is there because the six story Park East Lofts will be built there, basically going up against the tower. The residential units will surround and completely hide a public parking garage.

The rendering is a big fat liar. It shows windows along the entire face of the parking garage, but they're putting up solid pre-cast concrete panels. Blah.

What are the odds. No updates since August and two people end up out there within a half hour of each other. I was there about 1:30.

The reason I said wasted opportunity, was that looking at the tower last week prior to the facing, it really looked like most of the first floor was going to be core plus garage. With all of the remaining floors of the podium as parking garage it seems they missed an opportunity for some multi-level retail on the east side and a great upper podium restaurant. The views off the parking garage across the street are spectacular.

I'm trying not to sound overly negative, but I think the street opportunities have been wasted by OPUS on this one, especially if they had looked at Euclid/Maryland on an August evening. They would see what was possible with a bit more sidewalk allowance.

Good to hear that lofts will cover up the wall out back and we'll just have to wait and see how the exterior turns out.

I understand what you mean about two level retail. That would have been a great opportunity, especially for a restaurant. I think the side along laclede is going to be the lobby. Thats at least open to the street for interaction, just not retail. At least the garage will not appear to be a garage.

I take pics all the time, but I rarely post them. I took these ones specifically to post at the urbanstlouis forum, and Citylover wanted an update here too. I post updates more often at urbanstl, because people there are specifically looking for updates of the Park East.

A few new pictures here including a couple of context pictures so we can get a feel for how it's located in the Central West End. Is it just me or is the frontage on Laclede looking really lame in comparison to the rendering which is still plastered on the Euclid side of the development?

Anyhow. Pictures removed due to picpile server disappearance. I updated the other posts, but skipped this one.

1 - A picture of the rendering again, a little bigger than the one in the first post to show the Laclede frontage.

2 - A picture of the Laclede frontage for comparison purposes.

3 - Detail of the Laclede frontage to show some ornamentation on the facing.

4 - Looking West down Laclede from halfway down the block towards Taylor.

5 - Looking South down Euclid just beside Plaza Dental. The building foreground left is The Doctor's Building and the proposed site of Renaissance. Does anyone have any information on Renaissance's timeline and when would demolition start here?

6 - View of the North. You can see some of the facing detail between windows here. There was a rendering of the Park East Lofts on the signboard about a week ago, but it wasn't there today. They looked nice and would definitely cover the blank wall.

7 - View from the NorthWest on Buckingham. [Edit: I don't know why I though it was Westminster]

^You're welcome.

I'd say we're just about halfway. Comparing to the rendering at the start of the thread it looks like about 12 stories plus the crown to go. There was 7 weeks between my sets of photos and it went up 5 stories so I'd estimate the middle of May for the top-out.

Okay, looks like 18 stories now, with some glass starting to show up on the first couple of levels above the base.

1 - View looking East on Laclede. I don't remember seeing the construction elevator there before, but it must have been there.

2 - Some glass on the South elevation of the base. This is not nearly as glassed as the rendering and I'm still annoyed with this. Sigh.

3 - View of the South elevation of the tower. There is going to be a lot of glass on the tower.

4 - From the NorthEast corner of Euclid/Laclede. This is the building that Einstein Bagels is in.

5 - East elevation, showing how the tower is actually angled on the base.

6 - Rendering of the lofts to come on the corner of Euclid/Buckingham (see I got it right this time).
