That one is a new one on the NW corner that used to be a college type clothing store (Goulds) after they moved when Collegetown Court was built. It's only a matter of time before the other 2 corners wind up like this, since the bank is now closed too, and the corner that had the convenience store just has an ATM in that building.

^That apartment bldg is on the NW corner of Dryden & College ave. There use to be an old wood frame apt bldg which was torn down a few years back. The bldg pictured above was finished last year.

Some pretty good news for the Ithaca area:

btw, I think the square footage listed for that house in the picture has one too many zeros.

If not, I'll buy it......heck a 32,000 s.f. house for $585,000. Couldn't go wrong on that!

Yeah, but the environmentalists would have a fit about all that wasted space. I saw that article, but it had slipped my mind with the day's events.

They still are looking to finish out the first floor retail space and rent it out.

I've seen 32,000 square foot houses, and that's not one of them. Still, 3,200 square feet is a lot of space, plus you're looking at Lansing or Ithaca schools if that's in the Village of Lansing, so you are also paying for good schools (Northeast or Cayuga Heights Elementary).

A new building for the College of Architecture at Cornell. It's designed by Rem Koolhaas, and will be integrated with existing older structures. Here's the article (with a picture gallery located to the right of the article). What do ya think?

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...609200335/1002

800 folks at the presentation, sounds like a big deal, eh?

I think it's a little...plain. But maybe I am not the best judge. Isn't there a previous rendering of Milstein Hall in this thread, dating from about August?

You had posted a pic of a proposed design, but I guess that option lost out.

I certainly didn't know. Kind of embarrased to admit this, but I don't know that part of the county at all.

Hey, sake bombing is the newest craze- and many of the serving restaurants still give sake to underage students, as long as they have their Cornell IDs. I slightly dread this, because my roommate becomes incontinent after sake bombing.

^You crazy college kids.

Here's an article (sorry no rendering) about a new hotel proposed for Inlet Island.

http://www.theithacajournal.com/apps...609220360/1002

I'll try to dig up some pics of Inlet Island.

Hey Ex, isn't that where they built the new health/fitness center recently? There's nothing wrong with more development .

Hopefully it happens. It's been discussed for the better part of 20 years, but you know how fast development can move in Ithaca, especially in that part of town, Ex Ithacan.

Hey Ex, I have some news from the CU Daily sun from the agenda of the planning board tomorrow- at first I was terribly disappointed, but I'll explain why in a minute. Here's the news:

"The City of Ithaca Planning and Development Board meets tomorrow to review two site plans for building on campus. Cornell seeks final approval for the West Campus Residential Initiative Phase 4, which incluses residential wings and dining halls for House 4 and House 5 [think Alice Cook House and Carl Becker House, for references- these are mostly the same size and design]. The board will aslo review site plans for the new 197,000 square foot Physical Sciences Building, to be located between Clark Hall, Rockefeller Hall and Baker Laboratory [for further reference, Milstein Hall is 43,000 square feet, and the new Life Sciences Building is estimated at 240,000 sqaure feet).
A local landlord is seeking approval to build a four-story apartment building at 320 Dryden Road."

I was disappointed at first because I thought this was the Palms development that had been rumoured (the one that is to be "several stories"), but it is actually farther up the street. So, yay for density!
