Does anyone know what is going on at Houston St. & Bowie St.? I was in the area at took a pic. Sorry, I've been having trouble posting the pic, but the parking lot is completely fenced off; IES, Jimmy Evans Co, and Jordan Construction banners are on all sides. The block is bordered by Bonham St. on the west side. A fire station takes up a small corner. Could this be a new fire station, or maybe something bigger? Its a pretty vast property.

I don't know anything specific about something going up at that location, but, if I had to guess, its probably going to be another motel like the other ones in that area.

Whatever it is, I assume it can't be too tall because it's behind the Alamo.

I tried contacting Jordan with no success. I will be wandering around DT on Monday or Tuesday and will just have to sneak in and read some of the postings at the construction office trailer. I drive by daily and I only see digging. I think, if I'm not mistaken, that this is to be a site for garage parking.
It is hard to find anything on the site because everytime I search "Central Fire HQ'S" the histroric one near the Municipal Aud. pops up and of course we all know that is going to be revamped in the next couple of years.

I understand that the firestation on Bonham and Houston will be moving to the SW corner of Cherry and Nolan. A parking garage would be great for the Alamo; the parking lots fill up on the weekends and people would drive around hoping to park around there. A building wouldn't be out of the question either; its a great spot and not directly behind the Alamo. And I'm sure the old firestation will be preserved; that place was way too small. The firemen would close off part of Bonham St. in order to pull out their truck to wash it!

The Riverwalk now with a touch of Vegas and New Orleans. Downtown street level and the Riverwalk are lined with clubs and bars, Coyote Ugly's is a lil provactive, but, not anything risque as this.

New Marriott hotels?

I've been told that the fenced in parking lot at 411 Bowie is going to be 2 Marriott hotels. I spoke to the surrounding businesses, and I was told that they might be a Fairfield and Springhill Suites, and it was intimated that the buildings would have some height. Can you guys work your magic to confirm this? Good hunting!

I would imagine they'd be Marriott Courtyard type hotels in the 10-story range. I guess Fairfield and Springhill Suites are like Courtyard?

They are building another hotel off sonterra and 281 two...actually two hotels..one is already topped out...and the other one is breaking ground.

Great job! Nice to see an area of downtown not seen on here too often. What do you think of those new sun shades in Main Plaza?
