Located at 505 Preston Street, this tower was initially announced in 2012 and construction is well under way. The Icon will be one of several towers that will redefine Ottawa's skyline(others are the recently approved Trinity Centre @ Bayview towers).

The building is going to be comprised of condo units, office units, and retail at the podium level.

The current completion date is set at April 2020, but the project looks to be ahead of schedule.

Their reputation certainly isn't great but one should hope that a project they've dubbed "Icon" shall be executed in a manner deserving of that name. This will be a defining project for that company.

Yea. I'm glad it's going up in that area...it's great to see some intensification happening in that part o' town.

There's still over 20 floors to go yet on this project. It will definitely dominate the view in Ottawa until they start building down on Bayview.

From the local thread, the developer has posted this Southerly view from the 20th floor. That's Dow's Lake below, a terminal point for the famous Rideau Canal skateway (in the winter of course).

I've got fond memories of eating at the Mexicali Rosa's in the pavilion at Dow's Lake. It is really nice to see Ottawa starting to get a bit of height in places.
