Here is the image. Not the best. I'm wondering what the large green circle is, a park maybe?

Either that, or a massive UFO landing pad. I hope it's a park though. A big development like that needs to have some sort of large public park.

This is just another general map like the first one put out..

this is on the first page

The circle is probably a park or the golf course? or is that the thing to the right?

I saw that Doc talked to the Rotary club and talked about how he's going to be running and he's going to fight for the continued growth of our city and how he's pro development and he talked about the 4 proposals for Glencrest ensuring that it's not just a pipe dream lots to come boys lots to come!

And that will be the battle line drawn in the sand:

DOC --->Pro Development

O'Leary ------> Does Any One Know?

Awesome! I'm so glad! I hope people in this city will finally vote pro-development when the time comes.

Great to hear about Glencrest progressing! The big green circle is not the golf course. The golf course is to the right. I hope it's a massive park! Bannerman Park, Bowring Park, and Circular Park! I like the sound of that

I think it's safe to say:

O'Keefe: Pro-development
O'Leary: Heritage preservation/against most development

Naturally, if doc is going into the election being pro development (which he is yay!!!), the only way she stands a chance is to cater to those who oppose development. You can be guaranteed she will be speaking out against all forms of development in the upcoming months.

From the map, the green circle does not seem to be an actual part of the development ... because the boundary lines cut in there and go all around that circle. It might be green space (likely), or left out for some other reason. BTW, I drew the second map based on whatever they were showing at the time.

Looks like green space could be spelt out in the circle.

It's sssooo far away from downtown. I hope it's well-planned, like Pleasantville. If it's just more suburban sprawl with a couple of power centres... yech...

No, that is some kind of satellite or communications device. I can recall seeing that from the highway now.

ok so it's excluded from the development, it's the NL secret service area their base is probably underneath that area, we just never knew before

I don't know if I'm authorized to tell you this - but you're wrong, Jeddy. It's where the provincial government's Planning Committee for the Forced Amalgamation of Municipalities on the Northeast Avalon meets.

oh I know,... they use the board room in the underground headquarters of the NLSS (NL Secret Service)

After we joined Canada they kept their secret headquarters and I believe Danny is the chair on the board of directors... how do you think he got all that land and there's a mysterious structure that is probably related to satellite operations conveniently in in a perfect circle smack dab in the middle of this development (which could be part of a strategy to expand the underground facilities, not drawing too much attention because construction will be happening anyway) and at the same time making money to fund operations

Not sure about the circle. When you look at the zoning on the St. John's Mapcentre, there is no noteworthy difference in that area. Its all zoned the same, no special circle of zoning.

Could be the greenspace requirement for the whole development. Generally when land is going to be developed, a certain percentage of greenspace is required to be given to the municipality by the developer. Either that, or they have to pay cash to keep the space and use it for development. Perhaps Danny decided he wanted to have the greenspace, and bunched it all up in one area.
