That flythrough, though. If that comes to fruition, this will be an awesome part of town.

Hope the current economic situation doesn't scrap these plans.

That was posted by someone on Curbed so I would take it with a grain of salt.

^Great find. Those are the best I've seen for what the central "hub" area will actually look like.

It’s 50,000 sf. There’s no way it’s an Aldi.

Certainly hope you're right. Aldi would be a disappointment.

I didn't know that grocery space was that large. For comparison, the average Aldi is less than 20,000 sf so we can safely put that rumor to rest.

A guy from Carter stated last week on a virtual tour of the site that it was 50,000 sf and that they hope to be signing the lease shortly.

Fingers crossed.

Trammell Crow could close a deal later this summer and break ground on the $70 million project by December, depending on availability of construction financing, said a company development executive, Justin Adams. The project may contain up to 315 units.

Well I already live in walking distance. No Aldi, Publix please! I’ve attempted to shop at an Aldi 2 times and left both times with just 2 or 3 items. The prices were not much different than Kroger. As matter of fact left one time because the prices in the Kroger flyer were lower for the 4th of July items we were buying to grill out. However, the quality seemed much lower than Kroger or Publix.

I think the northern blocks are park space, but south of Memorial would be ideal for building stick-built apartments.

BTW, Aldi reminds be of a bargain-basement grocery store reminiscent of the downtown department stores in the 70s where the lower level was reserved for bargain hunting for cheap clothes and shoes that were stored in bins and containers.

This development is going to improve GSU football recruitment. It looks sick.

On Saturday, there were soil sample machinery in the parking lot where the grocery development is to be built. There are about 10 4’x4’ removals of the asphalt in the lot from the samples. Another parking lot to bite the dust soon....

They have begun removal of part of the old Gold parking lot for the Glenn Street extension to Capitol Ave and Pollard Blvd.
