Didn`t help him? He only had 5 shots against in the second and 2 shots against in the third. We outshot them 29-7 in the last two periods before the empty netter. Make a freaking save, might as well pull the goalie all game lol. A 0.765 SV% is not going to win you any games, time to waive him.

I hate to shit on Eberle, he has been a rather consistent 50-60 point per year guy and he should be able to maintain that every year. He's not going to be a point per game guy, people have to deal with that.

BUT.....Christ, does he look soft. I'm not sure if he has always been like that and it's the contrast with guys like Kassian, Maroon, Lucic, Hendricks that make him look softer.

The latter. The whole team was easy to play against before the arrival of the majority new roster. That's why it sticks out more. He's just going to have to find what he's good at again.

Hate to say it, but Ebs size is catching up to him...

Time to move either Eberle or RNH.

Personally I think RNH is better so keep him.

As well Pouliat has to go. That's 10 mill in salary that will be needed for McDavids new contract as well as paying some of the other guys like Maroon.

RNH is becoming a good overall player, Ebs fading even as a leather striker. How Pouliot still has a job is beyond me.

Man I got Ebs' jersey, loved the guy, but he is so painful to watch this year. I have never seen a single player get stripped of the puck so easy every single game. His zone entry is ridiculous too, so many offsides called on him. And his shots are just shit, what happened his bad angle top corners?? He needs to step up to his 6 mil contract, or else I really hope he gets left open to be picked up by Vegas.

Nuge is good two way, but I swear I feel like offensively, he always passes when there is an open lane to shoot, and when he shoots it is always into an opposing players' skate.

Maybe the Hall trade has affected Eberle? Those two were quite close.
Anyway, aren't you glad that Nuge and Ebs aren't the linchpins of the offense anymore? Though those $6M contracts don't look so good anymore.

Well, Puljujarvi was sent to Bakersfield and Monster was waived
Pick up McElhinney off waivers, perhaps?

True about the shots on goal. And he did play like shit.

Look at the highlights. And watch where are defence are on some of these goals.

Clearly isn't cutting it. That said, hard enough for back-ups to stay sharp and even harder when the #1 has played more games than any other goalie in the league.

Still - hasn't earned coach - or players' trust.

I really liked the Wickenheiser tribute last night. I'm not sure if the entirety of it was broadcast on HNIC though. Gretzky paid her the ultimate tribute by calling her the female Gordie Howe. The video tribute did solicit boos for Bettman and even louder boos for the prime minister.

As for the game last night, that was an exciting finish and I'm glad for the win, but by all rights the Oilers should have beaten a tired Flames team. The Flames overtime point may haunt them down the road. The Flames goal immediately after the Oilers power play goal stung - I blame Todd for keeping the power play unit on the ice after the Oilers goal, he should have put fresh legs out there. Pouliot whiffing on that gift right in front of the open goal mouth is more proof he should be sent to the farm, and Lucic is not earning his $6M/yr.

Battle of Alberta won't be a battle again until these teams face each other in a playoff series. The franchises have no history of hatred right now and it showed on Saturday; no fights, no cheap shots, no big scrums...boring

Off Edmonton-centric topic, but can't help myself; that Green Bay-Dallas clash had to be one for the ages!

Guess there was a tornado watch, so disgruntled fans (and players) were forced to stay in the stadium for several hours. Can't have been fun.

OMFG, the refs in the NHL these days are bush league. Eberle get penalized for goalie interference despite the fact that an Arizona player pushed Ebs into Mike Smith.

Poor ebs, has a curse on him right now.

Man how exciting is it with the Oilers doing so good, imagine where they'd be in points if Ebs, Nuge, and Lucic were all playing at their best as well.

Not sure Edmonton is ready yet for fight songs - but hey - we did Oh Canada proud in 2006 ...
