^ Agreed. The arched windows along 8th, balconies, and rustication really throw everything off. I understand they were going for a fusion of neoclassical and postmodern styles, but this isn't the way to do it.

The other "Frankentown" was redesigned. While it's still a bit busy, it looks much better IMO. I'm actually now excited for this project to rise.

Well they addressed the biggest complaint regarding the rounded balconies. This is a busy but also a pretty nice design.

To be honest, with all the blue glass buildings going up here in Los Angeles and elsewhere in the country, I happily welcome something with a more interesting, detailed facade. Especially seeing as it's within the historic core, where something completely contemporary might be jarring. It's a happy medium and I say go for it.

I completely agree, I like this building. Its seems to be well integrated.
