The seven-story senior apartment building planned for the backyard of the historical house by the Tyndall Condos is still on the table. There are three backup files related to the project for the May 12th PC meeting. It's on the PC agenda because they want the City to vacate the alley by the site. Needless to say, but some Tyndall owners are against the project.

That building is such a silly looking project, if I didn't know better I'd think it was planned out of spite.

The NIMBYs in $800k+ single-family homes working so hard to keep Muny and the rest of the area undeveloped... If only Austin were as progressive as we claim to be.

Heard something about the lot that Concrete Cowboy and Dogwood are on has been sold to make way for a tower. Does anyone know about this?

I hope not. I'd rather have W.6th stay entertainment geared. I know that something will go up on the site Hut's was on but I'd rather not have that stretch taken up by highrises with little street interaction. Let W.5th build up from Guadalupe to Lamar.

Austin land is under entitled. High demand of multiple uses and supply constraints in most areas means we’ll continue to lose places like these. We all have to work harder to get a new land use code! The recent extreme court ruling didn’t help, but the need for a new code grows by the day. Stay involved! Talk to friends and family, show up at neighborhood meetings (and don’t let them intimidate you with the hope of getting you not to return) and speak the good word of urbanism. Walkable, dense environments are better for myriad reasons but our POS 36 year old land use code makes them far too difficult to build.

That lot does make sense for getting a tower since a tower could "hide" behind 5th & West. One thing I've always wondered about is do bar owners/business owners ever take into account that a property they're renting or buying is in or out of a view corridor? If your goal was to cash in on a property that a developer was eyeing, it would be a good business model if that was your angle, but if you were more interested in putting down roots not so much. I wish that business owners who were planning to stick around long term would pick a property that is in a view corridor so that there would be little chance of something replacing their building.
