They can be all white, numbers and all. Maybe even a big snowflake as the logo with the WWHC in the middle. Note the away jersey would be all brown, like Winnipeg in the spring.

If you look at the facts .. Berry Shenkrow never asked for any government funds. He had a sizable offer on the table from an investor in the States ... and he said he would sell if a new arena wasn't built.

Instead .. the government offered to front the losses of the team until they could deside if they wanted to build a new building. It was the government and its bundgling idiots who wasted the taxpayers money .. lost the team .. didn't build an arena.. and had nothing to show for it at the end of the day.
... and egg on the faces of everyone .. including the city's image.

Something that will go down as one of the biggest botch jobs of all time.

Yes the Coyotes are dieing fast ... and have gone to Glendale and the NHL for assistance. Look for this team to relocate in the coming months.

well finally cjob is on board this past week. Having NHL in winnipeg makes alot more sense than having it in Glendale then I guess you can argue the economics of our city small market

listen to the 13 minute mark of this audio http://ckryfm.corusradionetwork.com/...dt=20081224_09

Well there is no comparison between Winnipeg in the mid 90's and today.. Winnipeg's economy is doing very well these days.... and businesses are investing.

On my most recent visit back in November I definately sensed the growing confidence ... and noticed many improvements through the city. I can't wait for my summer visit.

With that said ... I definately think Winnipeg's economy is much more able to support a major sports franshise, but I am still unsure about the suitability of the MTS Centre.

i posted this in the hamilton thread as well, but thought it might be worth discussing here too....for those who think that a 15 000 seat arena is too small to support NHL hockey.

if an NHL team in winnipeg sold out every game (15 000), it would only take an average ticket price of $65 US to be in the top 10 for ticket revenues....edmonton averages $70 and is in 8th.

you could even average 14 000 per game at $65 per ticket and be in the top 12 for ticket revenues.

phoenix averaged $30 per ticket last year.

NHL teams don't play in the same city as their farm teams, let alone the same arena.

Winnipeg could not support both an NHL and AHL team at the same time. (we are not Chicago or Toronto)

If Chipman desided to keep ownership of the team, it would still have to be relocated.

why not if we had a farm team going our local players could be farmed into it making more local familiar names.. hence why colledge football is so big in the states

Toronto hosts both the Leafs and their farm team the Marlies... although not in the same arena.
