Ps3 and GS building. Separated at conception?

The GS even has a flat side, just like the PS3. :O

Those shots by pef37 are amazing. Such great saturation and contrast. They really make this tower look great.

Funny, that part of BPC reminds me of the mid-rise condo towers and apartments just north of the Chicago river at Lake Shore Drive. That is also a stunning waterfront.

I'm gonna have to bike through BPC this summer and see for myself if my comparison is accurate.

Ive always thought the old skyline from the 20s-30s looked the most beautiful downtown. Back then the buildings looked much taller due to their slinder shape. Nowadays all of these buildings, although they are hundreds of ft taller than the older ones dont look as tall. Anyone else felt this way? Im sure the situation will improve once the world trade center is complete again but the modern skyline looks more squat even though overall its taller. hmmm....

The Goldman Sachs Tower is pretty freakin tall but yet, the woolworth building in the older skyline shots looked much taller than GSH building.

That scene will look much better in a couple of years... you won't even see the top of the FT's spire, in that view.

Well that's been the case since the 60's. The pre-60's skyline (in Midtown as well) was more classic, but the demands for office space were different at that time. These days, if you see a slender tower like the Woolworth or 40 Wall rising, it's most likely for residential use. I think in a sense the "fattening" of the Manhattan skyline may have echoed the city's shift from manufacturing to white collar.
