I wish they would cap this building with some sort of green strip. Keeps the colors consistent with the WFC towers.

Read somewhere that Goldman took control of the hotel. Wonder if they will get into this concept, though I'm not crazy about it...

BAM translates ornithological research into an unprecedented green roof design

BAM (Ballistic Architecture Machine) proposes the world’s first dedicated rooftop Avian Habitat, Biornis Aesthetope, in Lower Manhattan, New York. Biornis Aesthetope is a rest area for birds travelling along the Atlantic Coast Flyway. Structural latticework sculpted as a “meadow and tree” transforms a 70,000 sq ft rooftop covered with vents and ductwork into a park accessible only to birds and insects.

Biornis Aesthetope attaches to the roof of an existing 12-storey mixed-use building, utilizing existing column points to create a fully-spanning roof structure. An undulating surface of structural mesh is filled with a matrix of material “plugs” including 85% organic soil, water pools, gravel, perforated metal, and glass. Infill materials are positioned according to structural loading conditions and the need to create a “refueling station” attractive to birds.

Probably been mentioned before (infact I might have asked this before), but when is Goldman going to start moving out of 85 Broad and into this building? And, are any divisions of Goldman, or offices for that matter going to remain at their current Head Office?

I don't know why, but I picture Dr. Evil standing over this rendering saying "all I wanted with this rendering was freaking laser beams going through it!"

If I was Goldman Sachs I wouldn't want a mushroom infront of my brand new billion dollar HQ. Money that could and should be put to better use.

Coming along very nice. I like this building. 749' tall from a 44-story building without an major crow/spire seems much more than normal. Are these fairly tall floors?

This question gets asked all the time. This is normal, today most buildings are built with higher floors. Also remember that their is a portion of the building toward the top where there are no occupied floors as well. Other examples of buildings that this holds true include the Bank of America Tower (One Bryant Park), and the Comcast Center in Philadelphia. Those are the best examples that come to mind anyway.

LOL. Imagine the swarm of birds circling Goldman if this is built. It could resemble something from a horror movie.
